In this episode of The Nutrition Momentum Podcast, I sat down with nutritionist and cognitive behavioural therapist Brian O’hAonghusa to unpack his move deeper into the mental health space, and what that’s taught him about the real drivers behind eating behaviours.
We talked through his MSc research on men’s disordered eating, how fitness culture can normalise rigid habits, and the difference between genuine discipline and compulsion dressed up as “health”.
We also got into how to spot reputable nutrition information in a world of confident nonsense, including the red flags Brian looks for, the green flags that signal a credible educator, and how to think about evidence without needing a PhD. Throughout the conversation, one theme kept coming up: your nutrition and your mental health are not separate problems, they feed into each other.
