  • ROCK CRAWLING RC AND OTHER RABBIT HOLES: Back To Unscripted

A laggy webcam and an old Mac kick off a surprisingly honest grab-bag chat that jumps from Jerk's problems to real-world consequences.

I talk through what I’m changing in my workflow, why I’m recording on CapCut, and how a simple edit pass can make a podcast feel smoother without turning it into a glossy production. If you care about podcasting, video recording, or just keeping your setup running without buying a new machine, you’ll hear the practical stuff like RAM upgrades, storage, and why I’m still uneasy about putting everything in the cloud.

Then we pivot into hobbies and the kind of community that actually feels doable. I’ve been looking at RC cars, especially RC rock crawling, and I break down why it looks fun: the upgrades, the mechanical tinkering, and the slower “race” format. There’s also a personal angle about crowds, pickle ball, and why I often choose hobbies I can do solo, while still wanting a small circle to interact with.

From there, I scroll headlines and land on stories that range from political memes and media reactions to gut-punch tragedy. The Table Rock Lake duck boat story leads to a serious talk about safety basics like life jackets and decision-making under pressure. I also share thoughts on recreational marijuana legalization in New York, including the public impact, edibles, and why child safety and emergency room visits keep coming up in the debate.

If any of these topics hit a nerve, subscribe, share the episode, and leave a review, then tell me what you think.

  • MORE YOUTUBE; LESS PODCAST?

We share a candid creator update recorded on a phone, with the internet down, while we rethink whether the show stays an audio podcast or shifts into a video-first channel. We talk through the real costs, the editing learning curve, and why audience feedback matters when you are trying to find your niche.

    • shifting from podcasting to video production for more feedback
    • cutting Buzzsprout extras like magic mastering to save costs
    • why heavily edited videos feel better than raw audio
    • comparing OBS recording with iMovie editing slowdowns
    • moving to CapCut for smoother edits and faster workflow
    • the personal reason I started talking into a mic
    • balancing “just for me” with the hope it pays for itself
    • deciding whether to separate video content from podcast audio
    • asking listeners if they want more podcast uploads

"So for those 10 of you that do listen, if you want to keep keep hearing these podcasts, let me know."
"If you still want to check me out, you know, you can on the YouTube Rumble and BitChute the video."
"So let me know what you think."

  • FROM HOPE TO FALLOUT IN OBAMA’S AMERICA

Jerk reacts to a video critique of the Obama presidency and test the gap between strong speeches and the policy outcomes people actually felt. I share my own experiences with healthcare changes, then move through domestic controversies and foreign policy decisions that I think reshaped trust in institutions.

    • Switching from video-first posting to a podcast-style format and asking for listener feedback
    • Reacting to MAGA Mark’s commentary and questioning whether the narration uses an AI voice
    • Obama’s image and media praise versus a results-based scorecard
    • Obamacare promises, premium changes, appointment delays, and crowded urgent care
    • Solyndra, green energy loans, and scepticism around climate policy impacts
    • Fast and Furious, IRS targeting claims, and concerns about unequal enforcement
    • Trayvon Martin commentary and the risk of polarizing narratives before due process
    • Libya intervention, Benghazi, and leadership under pressure
    • Syria red line credibility, ISIS misread, and long-run consequences
    • VA waitlist scandal, drone strike expansion, and civilian casualty debates
    • DACA by executive action and the Iran deal optics and precedent

If you listen to these as a podcast, let me know how it's working because it's like I'm kind of I'm like video focused more so now

  • ODYSSEY WILL MAKE MONEY, BUT I'M BUMMED ITS GOING TO SUCK.

A trailer drops, the internet explodes, and suddenly a 3,000-year-old poem is at the center of a modern culture fight. Jerk hits play on a George the Giant Slayer video and react to the growing backlash around Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, especially the marketing hook “Defy The Gods” and what that tagline signals to long-time fans of Homer and Greek mythology.

From there, he gets into the messy part: authenticity. We talk about why some viewers don’t just care about visuals, IMAX spectacle, or big-name casting, but about whether the heart of The Odyssey is still there. He also unpacks how Hollywood PR and celebrity soundbites can inflame the situation, especially when the people promoting the project seem disconnected from the source material and its cultural roots.

We go deeper into the translation debate too, focusing on how word choices can quietly rewrite the story’s moral logic, shifting responsibility, changing how heroes are judged, and re framing themes like loyalty, sacrifice, hospitality, and respect for the divine. The Ship of Theseus thought experiment is used to ask a simple but uncomfortable question: if you swap out enough planks, is it still The Odyssey, or is it something else wearing the name?

If you care about Christopher Nolan films, book-to-screen adaptations, classical literature, or the future of honest storytelling, this conversation is for you. Subscribe for more, share this episode with a friend who loves movies or myths, and leave a review telling us where you draw the line between adaptation and rewrite.

  • TAMPON TIM AND THE WORST KIND OF PARDONS

Minnesota used to feel like a steady, moderate place in the American imagination, then the headlines started stacking up: riots in Minneapolis, “defund the police” promises, corruption allegations, and public safety stories that leave people asking who is actually in charge. I take a blunt, unfiltered look at that arc through the lens of MAGAmark; a YOUTUBE channel dedicated to sharing the hypocritical corruption of the Democratic party. The focus is on Minnesota politics, with Governor Tim Walz at the centre of our criticism and frustration about crisis response, COVID-era enforcement, and policies we think send the wrong message about accountability.

I also talk about how national figures shape Minnesota’s reputation, including Ilhan Omar and the way ideology can turn local governance into a constant culture war. From there, the conversation gets heavier, touching on political violence and what it means when disagreements stop being settled by debate and start feeling dangerous. It’s not just about personalities, it’s about the knock-on effects: trust in institutions, confidence in law enforcement, and whether regular residents believe the rules apply equally.

A big chunk of the episode breaks down the Feeding Our Future scandal and why large public programs can become targets for fraud when oversight is weak. I connect that to a broader reality people understand, including how corruption can be normalised through patronage and “easy money” politics. Then I shift to two stories that hit a nerve: a messy vigilante-style confrontation involving an alleged attempt to meet a 13-year-old, and a clemency decision involving a convicted child sex offender, both raising the same question about consequences and public safety.

If you’re following Minnesota news, public safety debates, or the broader US political climate, this one will push your buttons. Listen, share your take, and if you want more conversations like this, follow the show, leave a review, and send this episode to someone who’ll argue with you about it.out OBJECTIVE JERK PODCAST
