Oh, hello. It's been a minute. After months of soul searching and discovering ourselves (video games, movies, and music) we are ready to do some real work (fun stuff) again.

With another year in the books, the Oblivious crew takes a look back at 2021. Last year held many surprises, and luckily we are all here to tell those tales. The conversation kicks off with a quick catch-up on what we’ve been up to the last few months – one of us now has some serious responsibility. Then we, as you might expect, go into our biggest moments of the year. Entertainment events hold the bulk of this conversation, as we shamelessly barter in escapism here. Sit with us for a while as we pretend we know what we are doing…for the second time.

The last time we came to you all, we had a different look. It was an intimate episode with two hosts, a lotta laughs and some open discussions. To continue that trend I am joined this week, by, you guessed it, a single co host. This isn’t just any host mind you. Luis Maldonado is an up-and-coming photographer, who hails from the burbs of Chicago. He’s been wanting to come on the show for a while and we finally made it happen. Our chat is pretty open and free flowing, with a few points of concentration. In a bid to introduce you all to new faces making great work, I do my best to let Luis tell his story and what he wants to do with his craft. We cover what he’s been up to and why he loves the art, and he eventually gets me to spill the beans about my own beginnings in this wonderful world of creative work. For this week’s episode we have turned to you, our faithful listeners, to provide us with show topics. We opened up our dms, sent out polls, and you all have responded in amazing fashion. With social distancing and safety precautions still in full effect, our beloved Ikea has seen a few store changes. Rage just can’t quit you, FIFA. After giving up his ultimate crush for something better, Rage returned to his old stomping grounds once more. This time he isn’t out for glory. He doesn’t want a trophy. He wants to set the record straight: EA is indeed the worst. With facts, clips, and even a new voice, allow him to take you on a ride. Continuing on the video game vein, Juarez wants to know how the panel feels about Mixer. With an increased amount of tv time on his hands, Juarez has forgone traditional entertainment media and has chosen Xbox’s new platform as his preferred distraction. Have we as well? Following another murder of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, the nation is at a boiling point. With all 50 states and many major cities participating in protests, the American people have made their message very clear -- black lives matter. Some protests turned to riots that then turned to the destruction of property and in certain areas looting. Police presence and military force have been exercised in ways yet seen in our post COVID-19 world. It has been swift and it has been messy. We do our best to discuss our feelings and thoughts surrounding the age old discussion of race, inequality and power. Our listener suggestion bag has gotten a bit full, so we finally take a peak and discuss your topics. And finally, with maybe the best news of the week, Rage has played PES, and he likes it.

As we work out our next course of action, the world and nation seem to be splitting more and more everyday. Rage doesn’t completely hate the discourse, but can we be civil about it? Juarez has been buried under documents for a couple of weeks trying to get loans to his local small businesses. He comes up for air to check in on the good, the bad and the downright silly. Let's all say it together: 'P-P-E' or in other words, the new hotness. Stokes wants to know if the cast has been participating in the new world order of mask swag. From high tech to high fashion, we find out how far we’ll go in the name of safety. And finally, do we trust the media? With an ever changing landscape, completely upturned by a global pandemic, and more local reporting being swept under the rug, are the people properly informed? Jay has some thoughts.
