Cofounding a startup is an intimate journey, and unicorn tech founder Tanis Jorge has taken a number of those journeys with her best friend, who she met back in junior high.

Successfully exiting from all four startups they launched, Tanis and her business partner Steve built Trulioo into a billion-dollar company. Today, she has turned her attention to helping founders work together successfully with her latest project: The Cofounder’s Hub.

“65% of businesses fail because of issues with the founders in some form or another,” says Tanis, “That’s huge!”

In this episode, Tanis and Jean-Paul discuss the challenges co-founders face, the importance of authenticity, the value of direct communication, and how every successful partnership begins with optimizing yourself. They also explore the power of collaboration and how successful partnerships can help you survive the wild roller coaster that defines entrepreneurship.

“I’m such a proponent of partnerships. If you can find somebody to run that race with, it’s priceless. It’s the greatest asset your company will ever have,” says Tanis.

Plenty of founders have shared their entrepreneurial journey, but Tanis offers a unique insight into the role that conscious partnership plays in startup success.

She recently published The Cofounder’s Handbook: The Ultimate Guide to Starting, Building, and Exiting a Successful Partnership, which extracts wisdom from over 100 interviews with founders along with her own experience.

Learn what it takes to build a successful partnership—and why it all begins with you!

What’s more exciting than racing cars, SCUBA diving, and piloting multi-engine aircrafts? Dave Liniger has done all that and more, but for him, building an international business has been the adventure of a lifetime.

50 years ago, Dave launched his real estate firm from a single office in Denver, CO. Today, the RE/MAX Realty brand spans 100+ countries.

Dave and Jean-Paul explore the mindset and strategies that paved the way for Dave’s amazing life, full of adventure, success, and unshakable partnerships—including his 39-year marriage to his wife and business partner, Gail.

“The most successful leaders figure out, at some point in their careers, that it’s all about how a person thinks. It’s about mindset,” says Dave.

Trusting his intuition to form partnerships with the right people, Dave has built an extraordinary business and an exceptional life.

“When I walk into my office,” he says, “I’m not coming to work. This is where I want to live!”

Today, RE/MAX is one of the most recognized and respected real estate brands in the world, with over 150,000 active agents. By encouraging an entrepreneurial spirit from the start, Dave has empowered countless RE/MAX partners and employees to live the life of their dreams.

Winning the World Series of Poker once is an amazing feat. Winning it more times than anyone else in history? That’s nearly superhuman. And yet, that was just the beginning for Phil Hellmuth, who hopes his words and ideas continue to influence the world 100 years from now.

TikTok calls him the billionaire wrangler. His deep network of highly successful people includes Tiger Woods, Jay-Z, Michael Jordan, and Tony Robbins, to name a few. Phil has been on the advisory board for more than 16 companies, and startup founders turn to him for guidance and inspiration.

Poker requires a mastery of probability and rational analysis, but stepping into greatness was more than a mathematical equation for Phil. He contends that success in poker, and in life, springs from an optimized mental state.

“You are what you think,” says Phil. “You become what you think, and what you think becomes reality." Yes, reality is an illusion.

Phil’s new book, #Positivity: You Are Always in the Right Place at the Right Time, has received endorsements from Cheryl Sandberg, Draymond Green, and Tony Robbins.

How does Phil bend reality to achieve what others can only dream about? Listen and find out.
