Marie Roker-Jones is a social impact startup founder with over ten years of experience in leading inclusion and belonging strategies. She's had an eclectic work history thanks to her husband's multiple military deployments. The common thread throughout Marie's career is working toward social good. She's helped tech companies and startups with their diversity hiring goals through Veteran and military spouse initiatives, and has experience creating re-entry programs for underrepresented communities. Currently, Marie is the Co-Founder and co-CEO of Essteem, a company that's building a space of belonging in tech. She is also a senior editor for The Good Men Project, where she nurtures underrepresented writers and contributors to amplify their voices in the areas of racial and social injustice. When I was a kid, my ethics-minded step-grandfather routinely sat me down and walked me through the ethics of famous companies. Talking with Rob gave me a sense of nostalgia for those times when I was young, as well as a newfound perspective on corporate ethics. It's remarkable to learn from someone who works within the highest level at groundbreaking companies like Airbnb and eBay. Rob's unique background as a federal prosecutor provided him a new level of expertise and vision to these companies, showing that everyone can take a drastic career path equipped for the change.

Rob Chesnut is a phenomenal leader. Before guiding companies in their ethics, he worked in the U.S. Justice Department for 14 years. When he began to feel that his work putting criminals away––mainly young people––was too negative, he took a leap of faith and sent an email that would change his career trajectory. Rob Chesnut is the former Chief Ethics Officer at Airbnb. He previously led eBay's North America legal team, where he founded the Internet's first ecommerce person-to-person platform Trust and Safety team. He was the general counsel at Chegg, Inc. for nearly 6 years. His book, Intentional Integrity, demonstrates how companies that do not think seriously about a crucial element of corporate culture―integrity―are destined to fail.

I learned so much during my discussion with Shane. As an ambitious business person, I often struggle with forcing specific outcomes and failing to realize that some things aren't meant to be. Shane is great at following his natural path with intuition and trust. He lets events unfold as they will, surrendering to the process of life and letting what may come, come. Despite his ambition, Shane is spiritually centered, listens to his intuition, and aligs his next steps to his goals.

Shane Metcalf is the co-founder and CCO of 15Five, a human-centered performance management platform that creates effective managers, highly engaged employees, and top-performing organizations. Shane and his co-founders started 15Five to help companies bring out the best in their people. Prior to his role as CCO, Shane worked as the Director of Customer Success, and later as the Vice President of Customer Success, where he won the company customers for life by building self-service and high touch programs that helped unlock the full potential of the product. Before 15Five, Shane was an executive coach in the Bay Area for more than 12 years, where he worked with tech and social entrepreneurs to create new levels of high performance, productivity and organizational health.

Lamine's success is particularly inspiring to me because he immigrated to the United States alone. When he came here, the cards were stacked against him and his back was against the wall. Nonetheless, he managed to create opportunities for himself and carve the path that he wanted. I'm thrilled for listeners to hear Lamine's story and hear about his perseverance first-hand.
