Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior.

[18:23] Isaiah 45:5, NKJV 55 I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me.

[19:38] Psalm 36:9 NKJV 9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

[23:12] 2 Timothy 2:15, NKJV 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

[24:30] Romans 8:32, NKJV 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

[25:16] Isaiah 52:12, NKJV 12 For you shall not go out with haste, Nor go by flight; For the Lord will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

[25:34] 2 Corinthians 3:18, NKJV 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

[32:24] John 5:5–6, NKJV 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

  • 35: When You Can't Understand God's Hand, Trust His Heart (Part 6)

In today’s episode, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches continues the series, “When You Don’t Understand His Hand, Trust His Heart.” Dr. Funches picks up where she left off in last week’s message. Dr. Funches first welcomes new listeners and encourages you to go back to the beginning of this series, to benefit from all the messages about trusting in God’s heart.

It is vital for the believer to trust the heart of God, to persevere through a trial when you don’t understand His hand, or what it is that God is doing. You may not understand His timing or why He’s refraining from doing something. Dr. Funches returns to the story of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus in John 11 as an example of how God takes everything and works it together for our good. Dr. Funches contrasts the work God does inside us with the miracles He performs for us. Dr. Funches witnesses how she was blessed by being fully restored miraculously from a broken state. Dr. Funches emphasizes Jesus revealing Himself as the resurrection and the life. Dr. Funches likens the father of the prodigal son to our Father in Heaven who does love us unconditionally.

Dr. Funches returns to John 11 about Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and continues through John 11:34, sharing her witness of God’s love for you.

Listen in to hear how you can trust in God’s heart as a New Covenant believer of Jesus.

    KEY BIBLE VERSES

    [3:58] John 11, NKJV [referenced]

[13:38] 1 John 1:10, NKJV 1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

[13:47] Luke 15:11–32, NKJV [the parable of the lost son referenced]

[18:11] John 11:28–32, NKJV 28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, “The Teacher has come and is calling for you.” 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him. 31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, “She is going to the tomb to weep there.” 32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”

[19:35] Romans 10:17, NKJV 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

[22:34] John 11:33–35, NKJV 33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept.

[27:47] John 11:34–36, NKJV 34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”

[28:35] John 11:37, NKJV 37 And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?”

[29:42] Romans 8:28, NKJV 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

[29:58] John 11:38- 39, NKJV 38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

[30:49] John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

[31:19] Matthew 19:26, NKJV 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

[32:50] Revelation 1:8, NKJV 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

[35:32] John 11:40–42, NKJV 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”

[36:00] John 11:43, NKJV 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”

[36:37] John 11:44, NKJV 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
