What is proof?
Well, I’m not going to patronize you here, everyone knows what proof is but from a marketing standpoint, proof is being able to back up your marketing claims to give prospects more confidence when making their buying decision, that buying is indeed the right decision.
Why is proof good?
Proof helps you to back up your claims and prove to your prospects that your product or service can indeed get the results that you claim it can. This always increases conversions. Generally speaking the more proof you have, the stronger your proof, the higher your conversions will be.
What’s bad about proof?
Nothing is bad about proof used properly, it can only help both yourself and your prospects.
The only bad thing about proof is having a lack of proof, by not having it there, people will wonder why and it will actively work against you.
Also some shady marketers have used false proof and just used lies to back up their claims. Obviously this is not recommended, it’s wrong and it could even land you in big trouble. Don’t do it.
Who is proof for?
Every business should be using proof in their marketing as much as they possibly can.
How to show proof?
There’s many ways to show proof.
Social proof is big one, what are other people saying about you, your business, your products, your services, the spectacular results you got them?
Case studies are a great way to share a story of how someone succeeded because they bought from you.
Testimonials from happy customers are always helpful.
Perhaps you have lots of good customer reviews posted on 3rd party review websites.
Maybe you’ve been endorsed by celebrities or other influencers within your industry.
Perhaps you have been featured in the media or some other credible publications. Newspapers, TV, Radio, Magazines, Top Blogs, Top Podcasts because of the work you do.
Maybe you received an award that recognizes the work you do in your industry.
Maybe you have worked in the business for a long time or have worked with lots of clients/customers and you can demonstrate how much experience you have.
Maybe you have qualifications that prove you have studied and have knowledge in certain areas or the necessary licenses that allow you to practice in your field.
There are lots of different ways to show proof and having a mixture of all of these proof elements will help prospects to have more confidence and trust in you and that will lead to an increase in conversions.
It doesn’t matter how you are delivering your marketing message, your website, a sales letter, a VSL, a webinar, a social media update or any other place, anywhere you are making a marketing claim, make sure that the proof is present too.
