What is being mobile responsive?
Being mobile responsive simply means making sure that your web pages are easily usable on any device whether that’s when a visitor is using a desktop, a laptop like back in the old days or whether they are visiting your site using a tablet or mobile device as is becoming an increasingly popular way to navigate the web. In 2014 you must make sure your websites are good for users of any device. The reason I say mobile responsive in particular is that because the web started on desktops and laptops pretty all websites work on those kinds of devices but not all websites have made the additional step of being responsive on a mobile or tablet device.
Why is being mobile responsive good?
In 2014, very realistically, half of your website traffic is on mobile and if your site is not mobile responsive, mobile users will find it difficult to use and most likely leave your website. You can’t convert or sell to visitor who has left your site, never to return can you? So by not having a mobile responsive website, you could literally be wasting half of the traffic that comes to your site and that’s hardly good for conversion rates. Simply by having a mobile responsive site means that mobile visitors can have a good experience on your site just as easily as they could on a desktop or laptop.
What’s bad about being mobile responsive?
Nothing is bad about being mobile responsive, your mobile visitors need to be looked after. Only not being mobile responsive is bad.
Who is being mobile responsive for?
Everyone who has a business website, of any kind, of any type should make sure that their web pages are mobile ready. If it is not currently mobile responsive then you need to make it mobile responsive, it may require a small investment to make this transition but you should make that investment because you can no longer ignore mobile traffic and in the coming years, mobile traffic will only increase, don’t get left behind.
How to be mobile responsive?
Modern day web design firms will make sure your website is responsive on all devices so if you need to update your website, there are plenty of web developers who can help you to make the transition.
If your website is a self hosted wordpress site but it is not mobile responsive it’s most likely because you have an old theme. Pretty much all modern wordpress themes will be mobile responsive so it’s just a case of finding and installing a new theme. The content on your site can stay the same but you change the theme and therefore the look of your website when doing this but that’s not always a bad thing. Most people’s website could do with a facelift anyway so take this opportunity to real make your site look amazing too. This doesn’t have to be stressful it can be fun.
For m personally, as I’ve mentioned in many places throughout my podcast or on my blog, most web pages I ever create are done using either optimizepress 2 or leadpages. Between these two tools I can create any kind of website or landing page I like and it’s always mobile responsive. I definitely recommend them both.
