The Open Word (Audio)

Is your lamp turned on? In today's message from Pastor David, he encourages us to open our Bibles and to turn our lamps on for Christ! He warns us against false teaching, and reminds us to be in God's Word daily. God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. However, if we are not opening His Word, we can become easily misdirected. We need to study and read the pure Word of God, so we have the knowledge of which direction to go. Remember to turn your lamp on and to shine for Christ today!

Are we pursuing the right things? Sometimes it can be hard to know what to pursue. In today's message from Pastor David, we learn through Paul's warning to Timothy, about what the right pursuits are. Love, patience, kindness, and goodness, are some of the traits Paul lists in Galatians chapter five, as honorable pursuits. However, without The Holy Spirit leading our lives, this list can become very hard to meet. Pursue God through His Word daily, and The Holy Spirit will show you what to pursue!

Are you content with what you have? In today's message from Pastor David, he reminds us the importance of being content. One would think, that the love of money would only come from those in lack. However, often times it's those who have plenty, that the love of money consumes. Once they have more, it's never enough and the striving continues. The love of money becomes a trap and leads to enslavement. Let's be sure to be content with whatever we have, and wherever we are today!

How often do we hear people speaking poorly about their employers or managers? In today's message from Pastor David, he teaches us that just as Paul was encouraging the slaves to honor their masters, so today should employees honor their employers. Everything we do should be done to honor Christ, and bring glory to His name. As Christian believers, by honoring our employers, we are bringing honor and glory to Christ. Remember as you go to work today, that you are serving Christ!

The body of Christ needs to protect it's leaders! In today's message from Pastor David, we learn the importance of the body of Christ protecting and supporting it's leaders. Pastors and elders, and any leader that is serving the Church, is considered to be on the “front lines” for Christ. It's important that we support, pray, protect, and guard them from the attacks of the enemy. Our Church leaders do so much to serve and protect us, and it's very important that we help do the same for them!

We must provide for our own families! In today's message from Pastor David, he teaches us the importance of providing for our own families. Sometimes people will dedicate the resources they have to the things of God, but are neglecting to give to their own family members who are in need. We learn through this message, that God's heart for us is to first care and provide for our families, then dedicate our resources to other areas. God desires that we provide for the family members who are in need.

The Christian faith has been under constant scrutiny and attack since its establishment nearly two-thousand years ago. From the importance of the Trinity, a virgin birth, or a bodily resurrection, countless attempts have been made against key doctrines. In today's message, Pastor David warns us about the dangers of perhaps one of the more common false doctrines we hear today. In our study, we learn about the false doctrine of universalism and it's attempt to dethrone Christ as the one and only way to salvation.

We as a body of believers have several dangers that each of us faces on a day to day basis. While some are greater than others, perhaps one of the most dangerous of them all is thinking that we're not susceptible to the attacks of the enemy. In today's message, Pastor David teaches us about the dangers of underestimating our enemy, who seeks to destroy. In our study, we're reminded that while the war has been won, our enemy takes advantage of each and every day that the battle continues.

Many of us are well aware that the more people that are involved in a gathering, the more differences there tends to be. From preferences, personalities, attitudes and more, it seems that the more people there is, the higher the chance for strife. In today's message, Pastor David teaches us the importance of striving to maintain structure and unity within our local congregation. In our study, we learn that while we're all indeed unique individuals, our faith in Christ is the uniting factor that allows us to overcome our differences.

It can be fairly easy for us to think of going to Church as a means of receiving, rather than a place of giving. Whether it's been a while since we've served or we're going through a tough time, we sometimes attend Church with selfish motives. In today's message, Pastor David reminds us of our calling as believers to be actively engaged in building each other up. In our study, we learn the importance of both serving our own community, as well as the communities around us.
