Our next stop is Columbus, Ohio! After Jack Carmen, a non-neurotypical man, was accused and sent to jail for the murder of Christie Mullins in under two weeks, two journalism students at Ohio State University started to question "Who DID Kill Christie Mullins?" But surely two college kids can't make a difference in the justice system, right?

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Tamara Perry, Jordan Katcher, Janette Zosche, Taylor Shurte, Jeremy Staple, Daniel Jones, and Gabriel Rivers. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales. We've seen how dangerous Amite County was for African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement. Herbert Lee was murdered in broad daylight by a politician. Shortly after, another African American man was murdered on his own property. Was it a coincidence or was it because he threatened to tell the truth at Herbert's trial? We all know the answer but let's be one of the first to examine Louis Allen's story closer. Originally broadcast February 24, 2021.

Written by Schuyler Fastenau and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Tamara Perry, Maurice Whitfield, Sheatarra Ervin, Jeremy Staple, and Daniel Jones. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales.

Florida may ban AP African American Studies but that doesn't mean DTS can't try and teach truth to our youth. Before Black Lives Matter there was the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). During the summer of 1961, a member named Bob Moses travelled to Amite County in Mississippi and his life was forever changed. Originally broadcast July 15, 2020.

Written by Schuyler Fastenau-Jones and produced by Daniel Fastenau-Jones. Additional voices by Maurice Whitfield, Tamara Perry, Jeremy Staple, Walker Barnes, Jermell Deshauan, and Sheatarra Ervin. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau.

  • Chapter 4: Swipe Left (Rebroadcast)
Long before Hinge, Bumble, or whatever new dating app everyone uses that I've never heard of because I'm 85 years old, there was AOL Instant Messenger. Of course it wasn't specifically used to hook up but conversations could get real steamy, real quick. Michael Sandy found out the hard way that this can also lead to unintended outcomes. If you like this story, be sure to tune in to our Cereal Killerz episode on Friday January 13 to hear Jeremy Staple's "green" take on the story! Originally broadcast August 15, 2018.

  • Chapter 76: The Axewoman of New Orleans (Rebroadcast)
To celebrate the start of the new year, I'm going to keep with tradition and share our most popular episode of 2022! Anyone as obsessed with true crime and mysteries as I am will surely know the story of the Axeman of New Orleans. He terrorized Italian immigrants in the early 1900s and introduced us to the term "jazz it." But did you know this was not the first incident of an unknown person (or persons) terrorizing Louisiana with an ax? It probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that over five years earlier, someone was attacking black communities with a family's own hatchet in the dead of night. Sound familiar? Originally broadcast January 12, 2022.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau-Jones and executive produced by Daniel Fastenau-Jones. Additional voices by Jeremy Staple, Tamara Perry, Janette Zosche, Jordan Katcher, Maurice Whitfield, Juno Nifosi, and Daniel Fastenau-Jones. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales. Editing and sound design by Brian Campbell.

Written by Keelan Brown, narrated by Schuyler Fastenau-Jones, and executive produced by Daniel Fastenau-Jones. Additional voices by Rainee Blake, Jordan Katcher, Daniel Fastenau-Jones, Jeremy Staple, Tamara Perry, Matt MacNelly, Janette Zosch, Vince Perez, Allyn Anthony Moriyon, Taylor Shurte, and Sophia Sassone.
