Marisa and Sam kick off 2022 by talking about Hilary Duff's short and sweet appearance on The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 2 to promote her upcoming Hulu series How I Met Your Father. Largely underutilized, still serving looks, Hilary showed she still gives one shady confessional. Plus, Marisa tries to rank her favorite dating shows.
Marisa and Sam watch the pilot episode of the show that brought Marisa back into Disney Channel: Terri Minsky's Andi Mack, and compare the two Minsky properties. Basically, this means Marisa waxes poetic about Andi Mack for an hour while Sam just questions whether this is even plausible and ends up extending an open invite to Jack Nicholson to join the podcast.
Marisa and Sam recap the 2006 film Material Girls, starring Hilary Duff, Haylie Duff, Anjelica Huston, and a surprise appearance from Dot-Marie Jones. Together, they quickly learn why the film has garnered a 4% Rotten Tomatoes score, and try to figure out why someone who wants to sell a company would choose to actively devalue it before doing so. Plus, a troubling discovery.
Marisa and Sam track down the pilot of the unheralded 2004 Nickelodeon show Unfabulous, which stars Emma Roberts as basically Lizzie McGuire's cousin. In Episode 101, "The Party," Randy Klein seriously injures himself and can't throw his back-to-school party, leaving the door open for unpopular, clumsy Addy, a self-taught musician, to host the event. Plus, Marisa provides an update on where she's at with Zoey 101.
Marisa and Sam watch the pilot episode of Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 entitled "Welcome to PCA," and compare it to Lizzie McGuire. Who has the better theme song? Which characters are more compelling? Which little brother gives off a wilder energy? And do we like how Zoey 101 just does away with parents? Plus, Sam and Marisa recount their first Los Angeles celebrity encounter.
Marisa and Sam follow up on the prior week's podcast by recapping the 2005 sequel to a remake Cheaper by the Dozen 2, somehow starring even more people than movie number one. Sam continues to be baffled that the marketing department didn't call this movie Cheaper by the Bakers Dozen, while Marisa just can't believe that Eugene Levy agreed to do this. Plus, can someone please explain the deal with Beth?
Marisa and Sam check out the 2003 film Cheaper by the Dozen starring Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, Piper Perabo, and Teen Choice Award Choice Male Hottie nominees Tom Welling and Ashton Kutcher. Marisa forgot about the publishing subplot (or main plot?) of this movie, and she has some issues. Sam goes down an award show rabbit hole, and wonders how an actor could get an award for worst actor performance playing themselves. Plus, is Tom Baker the original Ted Lasso?
Marisa and Sam dive into another one of Marisa's childhood favorites, the 2004 film Raise Your Voice featuring a star-studded cast that included Hilary Duff, Oliver James, Rita Wilson, Jason Ritter, and Kat Dennings. Plus, another two for one as Davida Williams (aka Claire!) makes a brief appearance as HIlary Duff's best friend who she quickly forgets about when she moves to LA. Marisa shares how this movie became the inspiration for the first book that she wrote as a teenager, while Sam has fun with the spoilers page on IMDb. Plus, who's behind the wildest vocal solo of all time?
Marisa and Sam revisit the Lizzie McGuire cast reunion and table read of A Rock and a Bra Place recorded in May of 2020, which inevitably leads to, you guessed it, more Christy Carlson Romano videos. Castle Park is confirmed as a Lizzie McGuire shooting location! Plus, is Jake Thomas the real Outfit Repeater?
