Tanya Uyehara is the founder and designer of Laha’ole Designs, she’s a former educator who comes from a long line of artisans, musicians, and hula dancers. Kristi Sakaguchi, the creator behind Riskit Design, set goals to scale her business and reached her goals sooner than planned! This comes with lots of planning, preparation and meetings with her husband to stay on the same page and on track.

With the growth of her business, Kristi has learned to take risks to explore creative curiosities while staying true to her core values. This has allowed her to explore adding new products to her shop and educate her audience on social media about her products.

Kelsey is the Owner and calligrapher of Hawaii Calligraphy, as well as the Founder and Executive Director of the Make Lemonade Project, a non-profit providing financial support for those experiencing financial toxicity in their battle with cancer. With Kelsey’s husband being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 7 years ago, there were some dark days spent at the hospital, so she started turning lemons into lemonade by using her artistic skills to bring some brightness to local cancer centers. It started out as free gifts at the hospital, but eventually turned into a grant program providing funds to cancer patients who aren’t able to get financial support in any other way.

Blaire at Freshly Fuji puts a fresh spin on crafting! She’s inspiring people to create and find joy by creating with their hands. Blaire publishes craft tutorials on her blog and covers topics like seasonal decorations and home styling inspiration. Her theme is cute and colorful and will always put a smile on your face.

After studying pharmacy and working in the field for a few years, life took her in a new direction. In this episode, we talked with Blaire about rediscovering her passion for crafting and how it evolved into a business. There were few transferrable skills from her former career to this new venture. She overcame obstacles, learned new skills and found ways to navigate her new work environment.

Blaire encourages those who are interested in crafting to give it a try! Be open to creativity because you never know what could come out of it. You may find you’re more artsy than you thought!
