There are people who have convinced themselves that God has never intervened in history so why would he now? Some say that Jesus returning to earth is just another religious fable. When the storms of life come, will you be able to withstand the winds and waves? It's very important that our lives be built on the Rock and not shifting sand. Peter reminds us that The Word of God is the only foundation that we should build on. Otherwise, our lives will be tossed and destroyed by the storms this life can bring.

What a great weekend of remembering the great gift of Christ's sacrifice on the cross for our sin and celebrating the empty grave on Sunday morning.

As we wrap up our series on First Peter, we are reminded that we have an enemy that seeks to devour us but we have a weapon that will defeat him every time. That weapon is the Word of God. Just as Jesus dealt with Satan  after being lead out by the Spirit, Three different times He used the simple phrase,  "it is written, it is written, it is written".  And Satan left for a better opportunity.

Have you ever thought of yourself as a shepherd? Last Sunday we started chapter 5 of 1st Peter where he's addressing shepherds and overseers. All of us have a circle of influence with those that we do life with.  It doesn't matter if you're a pastor, elder, co-worker, student, friend, or neighbor.  We can help shepherd others in our relationships to help them grow spiritually, and be the better at living life day by day.

This week we're discussing 1st Peter, chapter 4, verses 14-19.  What a great reminder that "when trials come", not "if, but when they come, they come into our lives because God wants to get glory. He wants us to experience joy and purpose as we walk through these trials.
