The OwlCrate Podcast

NYT bestselling author of The Only Good Indians, The Buffalo Hunter Hunter, and My Heart is a Chainsaw, Stephen Graham Jones shares how his career started and how he keeps coming up with new ways to scare us. 👻

From growing up in west Texas to winning a contest with his first short story, Stephen notes that authors owe a lot to those early readers who put their words in front of other people.

We unpack why he’s drawn to horror: it’s all about how it makes him feel. He’s always scared when he’s writing, otherwise what’s the point?

And there’s lots to be scared of because how do you prove monsters aren’t real? 🫣
