Will from SUPboarder catches up with Ross Bazely (Kitebarn / Armstrong Rider) who has been coaching Will through his downwind journey and talks of how he has had to think differently to succeed in Downwind foiling. Ross tells us about his own foiling for the past few months where his goal is to downwind foil but the reality is hard to achieve with a busy job and family life. Instead Ross has been loving focusing on the elements of downwind foiling by progressing his SUP skills, putting the prone foil board aside and starting to see the benefits! Is this the REAL LIFE reality of Downwind Foiling?
Reuben recently visited Red Paddle Co. to talk to them about all things SUP... in this episode Reuben quizzes Commercial Director George Shillito and Head of Design Phil Hawthorne on everything about how they make a Red Paddle Co. SUPs and gives you all a really great insight into whats going on behind the scenes with this iSUP brand.
Theres huge amounts of insight in this interview, so we have split it into two parts.... part one covers the production process, quality controls materials and pros and cons of welded vs. glued rails, while part 2 we discuss what makes Red Paddle Co. different to other brands. Looking at innovation, environmental impact and price!
Well worth a listen, particularly if you have an interest in our SUP industry/Red and the environmental impact they have.
Who are Red Paddle Co.?
Red Paddle Co inflatable paddleboards and Red Equipment are very well known to many paddlers around the world. And for many of us, a Red board was the very first board we ever stood on. Red have been making iSUPs since 2008 and you can now find hundreds of thousands of Red boards throughout the world. As the iSUP markets grown, with many more brands following Red Paddle Co’s lead, we now have many iSUP brands of different quality and price to choose from.
Have you ever asked questions such as… Why Red Paddle Co? What do they do differently to other SUP brands? And why should I spend more on a Red product? If so, then these interviews are for you!

With so much board choice it can be hard to know where to start when buying a SUP. But definitely the first and biggest decision you need to make it whether to go inflatable or hard?
Late last year we published a video to help you make the decision yourselves, but then we realised we should post this as a pod cast as the audience is growing so quickly here!
Thanks for the team at Fatstick for sponsoring this video - great when brands are committed to helping consumers make the RIGHT buying decisions as its EXACTLY what we want too!
