We all have an inheritance to leave behind. Deuteronomy is a book that reminds us of the inheritance we've been given that that we are all called to share with those who will follow us.

We begin a new series, "Bridging the Gap" with a look at how we connect our Easter faith with the world we live in--our own personal world with its joy and struggles. The story of Abraham calls us to understand that God's blessings serve a particular purpose in our lives.

On Easter Sunday Jesus asks us the one question that has the power to transform us and how we live in the world: Who are you looking for? Easter Sunday provides us the question and more importantly, the answer.

If we look at Palm Sunday by itself, it tells us very little. But, if we look at it as part of the larger story of God's plan, it shows us how God is bringing us out of the wilderness and into his care.

Intentional wilderness is about withdrawing to be with God in prayer.

In moments of doubt and uncertainty, the story of Elijah in the wilderness offers us a way to discover a new future and a new faith.

Sometimes in life we feel like we're just waiting. Waiting to go home. Waiting to find the life we're supposed to have. Waiting to get back to someplace we'd rather be. Jeremiah speaks to us in our days of waiting and gives us a message that's hard to hear.

We all have those times in our lives when we struggle against the things of this life. Our responsibilities, our relationships, ourselves, when we are in our own wilderness. We plan and try to work things out on our own. The story we hear today show us that God has a plan for us and if we only listen, and stop wrestling with him, we will provide all we need.

The first wilderness story in our series comes from Matthew 4—the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. At the end of Jesus’ 40 days of fasting he faces three temptations from the devil. In these temptations we discover the deepest temptation any of of face, and how we can face it with confidence and strength.
