When you see your marriage through the lenses of disappointment, frustration, and dissatisfaction, it's what you are constantly looking for: why you're disappointed, frustrated, and dissatisfied.

Even when we do something to bring our marriage together, those lenses tend to make the "good" things filter away while left seeing all the ways things went wrong.

And it makes sense.

Our brains will search out proof of what we think and ignore or discount the importance of what is going well.

This is why the work you do to correct this is so important.

The pair of lenses you are looking through will determine how you show up and influence your marriage.

The way you show up when looking through the lenses of disappointment, frustration and dissatisfaction will not have you showing up as lovable, giving what you hope to get.

It will have you showing up in a way that influences your partner to show up with their defensive tactics.
