We can “live in the freedom of total forgiveness with reckless confidence” because Jesus took the righteous judgement we deserve. He said, “My life for yours!” Then, it’s hard to take a really close look at the brutal suffering Jesus went through when we realize he went through it because of our sin. But our comfort in looking so closely is this—knowing that he chose to go through it because of his extravagant love for us!

Next, Jesus had enemies who hated him—Judas, the Roman soldiers, some Jewish leaders. But they aren’t the only ones who hated Jesus, there’s some of that in our hearts. But here’s the wonder of Jesus, he absorbs the punishment for our hatred of him on the cross. Finally, Jesus invites you to bring your most painful questions to him. And he will draw the pain out of us and heal us by asking us some questions.
