As SLPs, we work with a diverse range of children, including those who have experienced trauma. Child sexual abuse is a particularly devastating form of trauma that affects children across all racial and ethnic backgrounds. However, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) children are disproportionately affected by child sexual assault and are less likely to receive the support they need.
In this episode, I review a case study of a speech-language pathologists who fulfills her ethical responsibility in a sexual assault case as it effects the child’s speech and language development.
