Naaman was a powerful man in his own mind. He was a great general who had a great problem. He was a leper, and his leprosy was slowly marching him to death.

We may not have leprosy, but we do have a lot in common with this man. Rather than leprosy marching us to a slow death, we have sin. Just like Naaman needed a cleansing, so do we.  

An Israelite servant girl let him know where he could find his healing, but rather than taking his brokenness to the prophet Elisha, he took his military, a letter from the king, and gold. Where he should have presented himself with humility and brokenness, he took a façade and a resume. 

Do we do the same? Are we trying to impress God with what we do have attempting to overlook what we don't? 

Elisha wasn't impressed with Naaman, neither is God impressed with us when we attempt to do the same.

Why did God give us the gift of free will? He doesn't want robots, he desires followers with a genuine love for their Creator. 

Joshua tells us, "Choose you this day whom you will serve." 

Every choice we make has a consequence associated with it. The problem we face today is that we have moved so far from scripture that we no longer know what we're supposed to do. 

We struggle with what it means to walk by faith and not by sight. Now our sight stands in the way of the choices we make, and decisions are based on perspective rather than Jesus. 

Scripture however is clear, we can't make decisions based on what we see alone. The Israelites based a decision on what they saw, and it caused them to wander in the desert. What if our decisions are causing us to do the same?

It seems today that no one wants to talk about speaking in Tongues as though it's become taboo. No one wants to know about it, study it, or seek out true understanding. 

We live in an instant world where often when we don't get something as quickly as we expect, we disregard and move on to the next thing.

The disciples were given a promise, and they were willing to wait and tarry for that promise to come to pass. Are we? 

Pentecost means fiftieth. In the Old Testament we learn it is a Jewish feast that is celebrated 50 days after the Passover. In the New Testament we find it is the day that the first Church was born. Believers gathered together as Jesus instructed them, and it was in the Upper Room that He poured out His Spirit all over them. Today, Pentecost Sunday is the day we celebrate this initial outpouring, and it's continuation. 

What a joy it is to celebrate the Law which was once given on the outside to now be given and settled on the inside.

Do you struggle with faith? Perhaps you struggle with wisdom to know?

We're continuing our series focusing on renewing our mind. We're looking to move away from this culture's anthem declaring, "Do what brings you joy," toward God's truth found in Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

To be transformed however, there has to be communication with God. Prayer is how we talk to God. God wants our prayer to be fueled with faith. We've got to believe for what we're talking with Him about.  

James 1: 5-8 tells us, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."

When was the last time you asked for faith? Have you ever?

James tells us if we want wisdom we have to ask for it. God doesn't want us to struggle with a double minded nature. He wants us faith filled. Join us today as we wrap up this series seeking a renewal in our mind.

Scripture mentions the word rejoice 257 times. 

The first record of the word is found in Exodus 18:9 where we learn of Jethro rejoicing over the Israelites being freed from bondage. When was the last time you rejoiced over someone else's triumph?

Have we lost our ability to rejoice altogether?

We're called to rejoice in the Lord always. He is our Jehovah Jireh. He is our provider. He is our everything. Everything we need, He has. 

We're commanded to make a joyful noise, to go beyond clapping our hands and make a joyful noise. When we translate that back to Hebrew we find this noise is to be an ear splitting sound. When was the last time your shout of praise was louder than your hand clap?

Does the volume of my voice matter when it comes to praise? When we look to scriptures record of the Battle of Jericho, we find it does. 

This joyful noise, the ear splitting sound is what happened when the walls of fell. Joshua led the people, and they shouted in such a way that their sound was ear splitting. They were obedient to God's instruction, and those walls fell, not over, not on top of anyone the wall went straight into the earth. How remarkable to consider? 

How powerful to realize, the same God Joshua served that took down the walls of Jericho, is the same God we serve today. 

What a great truth to rejoice over!

The more we know about the Lord the easier it is to rejoice, and the greater our rejoice becomes.

What do you do that brings you joy? A lot of people are asking this question. Many of us are on the search to find joy in life. 

Our culture has taken on a mentality that says, "You do you." You do you, and you find your own joy however, this anthem isn't going to lead a person to true joy, the joy that God desires us to experience which is the true joy our soul yearns for. The answer to what brings true joy, is found in God's word. It is experienced by doing what God wants us to do. When we live God's plan he provides true joy in our life. 

Romans 12:2 tells us to be not conformed to this world. It lets us know we are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. God desires to do this transformation. He purposes to renew our mind.
