  • Episode 41: The Crisis of Leadership
Episode 41: The Crisis of Leadership

Why do 65% of Americans say getting rid of their boss would make them happier than a pay raise?  Via a Gallup Poll: 79% of employees are agnostic (basically, they don’t care), 12% are working for your cause, and 9% are working against you.  This represents a crisis of leadership. We are in the 21st century with a 19th-century work model. If you see your team as a bunch of square pegs and nothing but round holes, DO NOT provide “roundness training!”  The answer: Know what the core nature and strength of work for everyone on your team and make the work fit your team members. Don’t make the team members fit the work.”

    Highlights from this episode:
    • The true story about the employee who did not like their boss, so they got the boss recruited into another company and took their boss’s job
    • Why we are moving into the 21st century with a 19th-century work model?
    • 100% of the work is made for 1% of the population.
    • How one company was able to cut the time required for one process by 67%.
    • If you have a square peg and a round hole, you should NOT provide “roundness training.”
    • People do not leave companies, they leave managers.
    • “You can’t correct 150 years of bad habits with a ping-pong table.”

  • Episode 40: Ideation to Implementation: 2 of 2
Episode 40: Ideation to Implementation: 2 of 2

The second of a 2-part series on turning a new idea into a reality.  We look at using The WHO-DO Method to bring new ideas to life. Specifically, we talk about breaking 150 years of bad habits.  We have some fun stories like “what are my instructions?” and how that was answered by a Shaker, and then a Prover. Also, the big shift in who is on point for the Implementation phase, and how that differs from the Ideation phase.

Questions we will answer in this episode:
    • How does the Ideation stage differ from the Implementation stage?
    • Why does your team actually work against you when you roll out a new plan?
    • Who is the interpreter between Shakers and Provers?
    • Who is the interpreter between Movers and Makers?
    • Who is on point for the Ideation phase?
    • Who is on point for the Implementation phase, and why?
    • Why do we have to throw away 80% of the work we do, and how to stop that destructive practice?
    • Why when a leader rolls out a new idea, no one adopts it, or they are dragged kicking and screaming through the rollout?

  • Episode 39: Ideation to Implementation: 1 of 2
Episode 39: Innovation to Implementation: 1 of 2

The first of a 2-part series on turning a new idea into a reality.  We look at using The WHO-DO Method to bring new ideas to life. Specifically, we talk about employing new software, and how to adopt new technology when you are wondering what to do.  We explore the real reason as to why you need each of the four core natures. Each core nature has a built-in paradox that challenges implementing new technology. How does that affect your organization?

New technology can help you automate with new technology, but you must follow 3 steps.  1: Know your objectives and requirements well. 2: Trust your provers to make it better.  3: Use The WHO-DO Method.

What you’ll learn about in this episode:
    • What is the paradox of each core nature?
    • Why do Movers like new innovation, but do not want to learn the new systems?
    • Why Shakers fall in love, but what is their challenge with new technology?
    • Which core nature is required to implement new technology?
    • Why are Makers perfectly qualified to implement a new idea, but what is their challenge?
    • A Prover is great to implement your new technology, but what do they need completed before they can work for you?
