The People’s Guild episodes

  • TPG | #61 A People's Guild Roundtable
Welcome back to the People’s Guild for another episode. This week the bus stays parked at TPG HQ as we have plenty to discuss with all that has (or hasn’t) been going on in our ecosystem of late.

We get the conversation going with a bit of a status check on what’s been happening with each of our respective strategies as we try to navigate the current environment.

We tick a few boxes on some interesting topics throughout the meat of this one, including the exit of a few prominent players from our ecosystem, the DAO & it’s affect on our current pace in revamping the game and a few other bits and pieces you may find interesting.

We round things out with a bit of a fun exercise with some rapid fire questions based on the marketplace. A couple of surprising picks here but goes to show that to each, his own.

At any rate, while we all wish for better times, we believe they are a’comin' to our Praetoria.

For now, enjoy the market while it’s down, be patient and remain steadfast.

Perhaps it’s time to dust off that alt account, learn a new meta, rediscover the joy of deck-building at different leagues and make the most of what the market is currently offering us.

And remember, patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

  • TPG | #60 A Royaleagle Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild as we pull the bus into New York state for this one to sit down with yet another veteran of Steem, Hive and Splinterlands.

Our guest comes from humble beginnings, beginning his Hive journey as a modest blogger on Steemit who managed to stumble into a collection of NFTs of the Alpha variety with zero utility. He quickly moved into becoming a major advocate for the company, the game and its community, volunteering his services to help bring folks into our ecosystem and support their journey throughout. Much later, his efforts would lead to his receiving an invitation to formally join the Steemonsters team as part of the support department.

We proudly welcome in the Customer Support manager over at team Splinterlands in for this one.

We present to you our conversation with Royaleagle.

Royal gets things started running us through what customer support means to him, to his team and to the greater Splinterlands ecosystem. We then hear the high level story of our guest's journey from Steem blogger to player to Customer Support manager on team SPL - and beyond!

From there, and as the conversation continues, we identify plenty of parallels in our mutual appreciation for the game & its community - something that always reaffirms our admiration for the incredible community that has come together around this game.

We hope you'll find your own common threads as we navigate through this conversation with another great Splinterlands community & team member.

Cheers to the customer support team and all their efforts to keep the community issue-free - they are the unsung heroes of our ecosystem, so this one's for you all! Thank you to team Support for all you do.

  • TPG | #59 An Aggroed Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. This week, we find ourselves in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country, USA sitting down with the OGest of OGs, the facilitator of fomo and the captain of ship Splinterlands.

Please join us in welcoming Aggroed to the show.

We continue the celebration of 5 years for team Splinterlands with a bit of story time featuring Uncle Aggy. We take a look at a particular moment in the past and hear how it compares with the current state of the game & economy.

We touch on the pillars of Splinterlands, those being community, economy & gameplay, and get taken through a crash course of why these have, and will always be, the core fundamentals for our ecosystem.

Aggy shares with us his view for the future and articulates his ambitions for Steemmonsters' role in the future of Web3 gaming, beginning with our budding relationship with Chibi Dinos.

It's always a pleasure to hear from the good doctor Reich and we're humbled that he continues to make time in his day to sit down with small-time content creators like ourselves.

Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our conversation with the Chief Executive Overlord and hope you'll do the same.

    Enjoy!

  • TPG | #58 A DaveMcCoy Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. Our bus parks in North Carolina, USA for this one as we sit down with one of the longest-tenured Splinterlands vets in the game.

Our guest is one of the representatives on the Community Leadership team, he's one of the guys responsible for the creation of a recent legendary summoner to enter the game (Possibilus, or Billy as its affectionally known within our guild), a self-proclaimed hillbilly (making the Team Possible summoner's nickname that much more appropriate!) and one of the most well-respected voices across Praetoria.

Join us as we proudly welcome in DaveMcCoy to the show.

Dave takes us on a ride throughout time as we reflect on the past five-plus years of Hive and Splinterlands and talks trials & errors, opportunities & challenges and ambitions & hopes for this amazing blockchain-based video game & ecosystem.

Wielding a 3-decade plus career in the financial services sector, Dave brings a unique perspective to his approach to the game and provides us with a wonderful picture of where he believes this game can take us and what his part in it all could be - and, I might add, its one chock-full of humility.

We talk SPS governance and DAOs, including the controversial Proposal #28 and what this could mean for the game, Splinterlands' space in the future of Web3 gaming, guilds, including the formation of Team Possible, the power of community, the Possibilus creation process and much, much more.

Throughout this conversation and whilst getting to know Dave, it becomes increasingly clear as to why he was an easy decision for the inaugural community leadership position.

We hope you'll appreciate this episode with one of our community's finest - lots of insight and wisdom shared here.

    Enjoy!

  • TPG | #57 An Azircon Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. This week, we make a visit to Houston, Texas to sit down with one of the more pragmatic and community-driven whales of our game. He's been involved as a heavyweight advocate in the Hive and Splinterlands' ecosystems since 2018.

We proudly welcome Azircon to the show.

We have an absolute pleasure sitting down for a colorful storytelling session with the self-proclaimed Kaonashi of Hive. Azircon shares with us his personal chronicles with the blockchain, through his seemingly stumbling upon Steem back in 2018, through to the announcement of land, the J6969 saga, subsequent fall-out and fire-sale, to Runi and beyond.

We are privileged to hear our guest's perspective and philosophy as we make our way through the annals of Splinterlands' history.

As we are celebrating 5 years of Splinterlands, this feels like a very appropriate conversation as we get taken through the long and winding tale of the game - a great opportunity to take a moment to reflect on all that has happened and consider all that still could happen.

    Enjoy the episode!

  • TPG | #56 A Wascalwabbits Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild.

This week the bus stays in Taiwan as we pay a visit to our very own Thewascalwabbits.

This is a bittersweet episode for us here at the podcast as we issue in the end of an era.

We make the most of a final official appearance from our great buddy, Wascal, as he briefly shares with the People's Guild what is next for him. We also take the opportunity to pick his brain on all that's going on in the Splinterlands universe, namely the recently announced and soon to be delivered staked SPS system.

With Wascal's blessing, the People's Guild shall continue in a new iteration - this one featuring one of our favorite recurring guests and our friend Hepthorn in the co-host chair.

We'll do our best to continue this passion project that Wascal and I began so many months ago - in the meantime, we wish our friend the best in this next chapter of his life.

As always, thanks for tuning in - enjoy the episode!

  • TPG | #55 A People's Guild Roundtable
Welcome back to the People's Guild. This week the bus pulls into the South of the United States, wrangling in two of our favorite Splinterlands buds. We are pleased to present to you our conversation with our friends, @darkestnyte and @hepthorn.

Given that it has been quite some time since we purely talked shop with guests and many moons have passed since we've had the chance to catch up on-air with these two gents, there was plenty to discuss.

We cover a ton of ground in this one - from Lux Vega to the new energy system, the new user experience to the battles pass, soulbound reward cards to Rebellion and a little bit of everything else.

Needless to say, this episode is jam-packed with insights, ideas and just plain ole fun.

It's always a good time chatting with friends about the game, so we hope you all can sit back, relax and enjoy a bit more of a casual chat with us here at the People's Guild.

Another week, another episode and yet another wonderful guest here at the People's Guild.

This week, the bus rolls up to to chat with our third guest from the Splinterlands 101 podcast, Giotrix.

We kick off talking about his formative years in Australia, and wind our way to the streets of Praetoria, via discussions on gaming, and his early experiences of podcasting.

Land is the hot topic in Praetoria at the moment, so inevitably we discussed his personal plans, current and future.

Another banger of a show, and as always, it's wonderful to get to know another member of the community.

    Enjoy!
