The People’s Guild episodes

  • TPG | #71 A Flauwy Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. The bus goes transatlantic for this one as we park in Barcelona, Spain to catch up with this guest. A huge proponent for all that Hive represents, this guest has burrowed into the ecosystem through various endeavors and projects over the years & continues to do so with unshaken conviction.

We're very proud to present our conversation with @flauwy.

The episode gets going with the tale of Flauwy's long & winding journey to Steemit / Hive and establishes a recurring theme throughout this episode - life's way of preparing us for some presently unknown future opportunity. We hear all about the creation of @monster-curator, One-Up and the Cartel (now @oneup-cartel). As Flauwy makes his way through describing these various projects, his true passion in Hive becomes crystal clear - the community.

We jump to another Hive project, ChiFi Bots, and are told of the saga surrounding this failed gaming project. Still relative rookies to all things Hive, this marks the first infamous rug-pull story that we've been made aware of on our beloved blockchain. Valuable insight and perspective to bear in mind for all things moving forward in our own respective crypto journeys to be found in here, for sure.
From there, the episode takes a turn towards the magic that surrounds us all in this thing called lfie.

Flauwy indulges the People's Guild in his journey from Germany to Costa Rica to Peru to Spain. Our guest shares his experiences with the mystical & the spiritual from his journeys - highly suggest spending a few moments to read through the full story as told directly by Flauwy [here](https://peakd.com/swc/@flauwy/my-great-spiritual-journey-astrology-mushrooms-and-ayahuasca-swc).

The conversation winds its way back to the blockchain before landing on the shores of Praetoria as we discuss Flauwy's conviction in Hive, Splinterlands and the future of it all. We talk land, SPT, boss monsters, vouchers, roadmaps, battles 2.0 - you name it, we cover it.

What a wonderful episode with yet another wonderful guest from our community. Always refreshing to hear the perspectives of the OGs of Hive that see such a bright future for the blockchain, despite this imposing bear market we continue to cope with.

    Enjoy the episode!

  • TPG | #70 An Investygator Conversation

Welcome back to the People's Guild. In this episode, we are joined by the one & only @synist3r as our guest-host for the show.

The bus rolls into @bjangles' home state of Texas to sit down with a man of few words, he's one of the faces of the Splinterlands' dev team and he is the guy responsible for our weekly software updates update.

Join us as we proudly welcome @investygator to the show!

We take a brief tour through our guest's resume pre-Steemmonsters before taking a bit of a dive into Praetoria 1.5 and the subsequent roadmap for the remainder of the year. From there, Tales takes us down a path of Terms of Service & Battle Helpers and we hear what that could potentially mean for the future of the Modern format.

Throughout the discussion of the future of Modern, Rebellion rears its head and we pursue it as much as we're able. Rebellion means so much more for the future of Splinterlands and its community than just the exit of Untamed to Wild format and we get a glimpse into just what that could entail.

We cover all of this and a lot more ground with Gator in this one and we hope you'll join us in our very enjoyable conversation.

    Enjoy the show!

  • TPG | #69 A Viru5 Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild.

The bus is back after a brief break for some personal vacations and we've got a good one for you all in this one! We sit down with a community member that you've likely crossed paths in some way, shape or form at some point throughout your Splinterlands career. He frequents SPLTV streams, YouTube livestreams and various Discord channels, often offering a unique perspective or insight worth greater consideration.

It is our pleasure in present to you our conversation with @viru5. Our guest represents the first we've hosted in quite a while that came into the game at around the same time as us, which makes our varied approaches to the game, to land and to the ecosystem an interesting case study of sorts. While we agree on plenty, there's no shortage of areas where we differ in opinion.

Viru5 is a software developer by trade, making for a distinctive outlook upon all that's currently on the docket for the dev team over at Splinterlands with regards to Land 1.5, as well as a fascinating view on development updates that've been delivered to us throughout the last year+.

We have a great time getting to chat with yet another wonderful community member and hope that you'll enjoy our conversation, as well.

Here's to the first of many chats with Viru5!

    Enjoy the episode! Podcast

  • TPG | #68 A Bebeomega Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. Another week, another episode and a guest with whom we're very excited to present our conversation to you.

The bus pulls into Orange County, California for this one as we sit down with a buddy who's traveled and lived the world over before calling Huntington Beach home (for now). He's one of the many great personalities that makes his own twice weekly appearances over on SplinterlandsTV and hosts his own show with fellow content creator, Stever82, on "Into the Splinterverse" (https://www.youtube.com/@SteveR82_Splinterlands).

Without further ado, we proudly present to you our conversation with Bebeomega.

Land, cuisine, life and the world. We have a blast talking through it all with our guest in this one but we kick off the Splinterlands talk with the topic that is sure to be the most impactful on our community in the short-term - Praetoria 1.5.

En route to landing upon its fruitful shores, however, our guest treats us to the long & winding story of his finding his place in the Hive & Splinterlands ecosystems - and a tale worth hearing it is!

This conversation enjoyably meanders through rabbit holes and tangents with yet another invaluable community member in the wonderful world of Praetoria and it's our absolute pleasure to present it you here.

    Enjoy!

  • TPG | #67 A Cryptoeater Conversation
The bus makes a stop down under in this episode as we park in Melbourne, Australia to sit down with one of the Splinterlands ecosystem's biggest whales. Aside from being one of the original investors in the game back in May 2018, he's one of the founders over at Aqualis and, on a moving forward basis, will be overseeing the marketplace from Layer2Labs.io (https://splinterlands.aqualis.io/) (now a part of the Aqualis ecosystem).

Please join us in welcoming Cryptoeater to the People's Guild.

The episode begins as we are taken through Simon's humble beginnings within the crypto space. We hear how his journey slowly & then all of a sudden evolved from part-time investor/student/call center operator into that of a full-time crypto investor.

We are then taken down the path of exploring Simon's more recent ventures that are Aqualis (https://www.aqualis.io/) and the Layer2Labs marketplace.

***Disclaimer: For updates on when the new Aqualis Marketplace with 70% cashback will be live, please join their discord: https://discord.gg/XBjr8YSJJN***

From there, we shift gears and focus the bulk of the duration of the episode back on Spinterlands as Cryptoeater shares his thoughts on what the future could hold for the DAO, SPS, DEC, the flywheel, land and much, much more.

We thoroughly enjoyed getting to sit down and hear a bit about Simon's journey - lots of lessons to be had here & we hope you'll take the time to give this one a listen!

    Enjoy the episode!

  • TPG | #66 A FatJimmy Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. The bus finds itself in the Bay Area, California for this one as we sit down with a long-time staple in the Splinterlands' community.

We hope you'll join us in welcoming in Fat Jimmy to the show!

Man, oh man. What an episode. We have an absolute blast talking all things music, crypto & Splinterlands with Jimmy in this one. We get things started with the tale of Fat Jimmy Amps (https://fatjimmyamps.com/), Jimmy's livelihood that has found its way from humble beginnings as a Fender repair shop to being at the forefront of musicianship with some of the most recognizable names in the industry. Some great stories here that are not to be missed!

We eventually make our way back to Praetoria as we hear Jimmy's entrance into the game following a Nifty Show podcast episode featuring Aggroed back in 2020. Jimmy shares with us his early experiences within Splinterlands, how & why he burrowed in like a tick to this ecosystem and where he believes we, as a community & ecosystem can go from here. Spoiler: bullish!

This episode meanders through the Praetorian landscape as we touch on everything from land and Riftwatchers to proposals to future card sets with a metric ton of tangents & rabbit holes along the way.

With a seemingly endless range of topics to discuss, this episode tips the scales at nearly 3 hours, so toss on your headphones, buckle up & enjoy the show!

    See y'all next week!

  • TPG | #65 A 16-Bit Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. The bus finds itself on the shores of the Ohio River as we park in Cincinnati for this episode. Join us as we welcome in another team member and guest that we, as a community, haven't heard much from of late on Town Halls.

We proudly present to you our conversation with the Splinterlands VP of Sales, 16-Bit.

The show gets rolling as Jon tells the tale of his entrance into crypto, Web3 and how he found his way to Splinterlands. Our guest shares with us his approach to the art of attracting whales throughout the bear, what kind of impact 3rd party services such as NFTYArcade can bring to the table, as well as the potential implications for how land 1.5 and beyond (including land surfing!) change these conversations.

We then zoom out and get to hear 16-Bit's perspective on the decentralization of Web3 and how this affects us in Praetoria - we talk DAO, land resources and cards and Splinterlands as a Service. We also hear about the traditional gaming studios and our guest's take on their why (or why not) for entering into the Web3 space.

TPG asks Jon to remove the VP hat and don his gamer hat for a bit to give us some insight into how he would like to see the game change as we move into the next era of Splinterlands gameplay - he does not disappoint as he digs deep into our 90's kids gamer hearts for a very relevant reference!

We have a great time sitting down and shooting the breeze with 16-Bit in this one - it's yet another great reminder that the caliber of people the team over at SPL has surrounded themselves with is second to none. Gamers with great minds and even greater ambitions.

Stay tuned & enjoy the show!

  • TPG | #64 An Axlertwinblade Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. This marks our second episode in a double-header for the week as we make a stop in Michigan, USA. In this one we sit down with one of the great contributors to the Splinterlands' ecosystem and, whether you know it or not, you're more than likely already familiar with some of his handiwork.

He is the sole developer over at Baron's Toolbox (https://www.baronstoolbox.com/) and is responsible for the absolute imperative SPL companion that is the BTB Toolbar, the now iconic card frames that display the team's faces throughout Townhalls and the SPLTV spinning tool we all observe with baited breath hoping for that GF Byzantine Kitty to be landed upon.

We proudly present to you our conversation with Axlertwinblade.

The conversation gets going with an introduction into who Axler is as we hear about his humble beginnings with NFO Guides, a bit about his career in website development and his eventual, and we daresay reluctant, entrance into Splinterlands.

Once we get a whiff of Praetoria, we dive head-first into the world of Splinterlands and talk through a whole slew of topics from Modern v Wild to in-game engagement to statistics and more, all the while chatting on a ton of potential implications for what could come with Baron's Toolbox.

That there are tons of ideas a'brewin' over at Axler's workshop would be a massive understatement. We even get a brief glimpse into what else is coming down the track outside of Splinterlands (additional Splinterlands' asset utility!?) for the future of Team NFO Guides.

It's conversations like these that are such a refreshing reminder of the incredible community that is hanging out with us here - here's to a bright future here in Praetoria!

    Enjoy the show!

  • TPG | #63 A Sylar Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. The bus finds itself in the U.K. for this episode as we sit down with a guest who has found himself placed indirectly at the forefront of the battle for Modern format. He's responsible for all things XBOT and has been diligently leading an innovative team of one through a series of updates, new products and services in attempt to navigate the massive flurry of in-game changes throughout the last year.

Please join us as we welcome Sylar to the show.

We hear the tale of our guest's journey through professional software development to using his skills to develop solutions for his own personal gaming pleasure. We then gain an understanding of how he found himself in our corner of the Hive blockchain and his subsequent landing at the top of the Splinterlands' automation game that seems to always be a hot topic.

Sylar shares his thoughts of what's to come with the recently passed proposal that will relegate all bots to the Wild format, what he expects of his Battle Helper service moving forward and shares his thoughts with us as to what's sure to be a watershed moment for the Splinterlands ecosystem.

Stay tuned and enjoy the show!

It's an absolute privilege to have conversations with such prominent and contributing members of our community here at TPG and we sincerely thank you all for all the recent support you have shown us throughout our recent string of episodes.

    Thank you!

  • TPG | #62 A Hardpoint Conversation
Welcome back to the People's Guild. This week we have the privilege of sitting down with yet another team member on the Splinterlands crew. In his first public appearance since 2022, our guest walks us through what's been keeping him going, where his ambitions for this game see us heading and, most importantly, he provides the community with some much appreciated proof of life.

Without further ado, we proudly welcome Hardpoint to the show.

We get things going with some of our guest's high level views of the future of crypto, web3 and a bit of speculation around both Splinterlands' and gaming's role in the bigger picture of crypto adoption.

From there, we take a turn down the massive rabbit hole that is Hardpoint's current passion project - Praetoria. Our guest shares a metric ton of goodness and, we daresay alpha, around the future of land, including the (as of now) imminent introduction of "land surfing".

Throughout the episode, we are treated to a whole slew of our guest's aspirations for what's possible within the Praetorian landscape. As we tumble down the rabbit hole with Hardpoint, it becomes abundantly clear that creating moments for our gamers and stakeholders within this ecosystem is a major driving force behind all that is happening behind the scenes. All things considered, and despite all of the salt and negativity, its an exciting time to be here and watch as these stories unfold towards a revival of the game.

This conversation proves itself as yet another example of the passion that the leaders over at Steemonsters operate with on a daily basis. Over the last 6 months, the variety of team member guests we've hosted here at TPG have all consistently conveyed their excitement and their dedication for the community, the ecosystem and the future of the game. Inspiring stuff.

We have an absolute blast in this episode and its our sincere privilege to present to you our conversation with Hardpoint.

    Enjoy the episode!
