Prior to joining the Newlines Institute, Caroline served as an analyst at the forecasting firm and publication, Geopolitical Futures, where she worked on political, economic, and defense developments in the Middle East and Europe with a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean and the Levant.

Dr. Carolyn E. Holmes hops on a call with Jacob to discuss recent developments in South Africa. Western media has largely forgotten/ignored the unrest unfolding in Africa's southernmost country, and Dr. Holmes helps us understand the context around the spike in violence in the country. Dr. Holmes is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at Mississippi State University. Her research focuses on nationalism and post-conflict transitions to democracy in sub-Saharan Africa.
