In this episode, Damon so artfully shares with us the transformative story of an man who embraced an often overwhelming journey to find and ultimately rekindle a relationship with his biological parents. He also shares with us his experience of growing-up as a young black man in an intentionally integrated community—a community that was designed to promote the successful integration of people many different life characteristics, including ethnicity, social economic status, and more. I can tell you that this story allowed me to think, for the first time, very deeply about the many people who navigate an adoption story, as well as the many people who have very nuanced experiences related to their ethnicity and their progressive understanding of the world.
