J Karl and I discuss the petro dollar and the stranglehold the US has on the world economy. The US established the petrodollar at the end of world war II to maintain economic control over the world. If you want to purchase oil you need to purchase oil in dollars so you need to convert whatever currency you have to US dollars to buy oil. Any government that has ever tried to circumvent this system of the petrodollar has learned very quickly that the US government and the military industrial complex will not tolerate this. Two examples come to mind Gaddafi in Libya and Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
