The PFPN

Today with our amazing friend Stephanie Ewry, we celebrate the work of one of the greatest comedians of all time by breaking down the incredible Robin Williams in Good Morning, Vietnam. In what is arguably his best performance, Robin does what Robin does... make us laugh. And that's what we do the entire show today! We also pick each of our Top 5 Robin Williams films of all time. So get out the vinyl records, don't start the jeep if it's already running, and keep the MD PC on the QT or we might end up MIA or put on KP... it's time for Good Morning, Vietnam on The Movie Defenders podcast!

In this episode, we're hitting the mean streets for a killer crime film by way of Japan, thanks to Dustin's pick. So join us as we check out Kinji Fukasaku's Japan Organized Crime Boss from 1969. Harkening back to our prior format, Dustin delivers a whirlwind overview and history of the yakuza subgenre. Jason digs in with the aesthetics of the film and how well they build the atmosphere. But before all that, Jason makes it back to the theater for a big horror franchise revival and Dustin digs further with Arrow's J-Horror Rising box set. And so much more!

This week we get together to talk about Ashlyn's pick, the 2021 comedy masterpiece Habit

Every collector has to start somewhere, and in this episode, we’re blasting off into a galaxy far, far away to talk about starting a Star Wars vintage figure collection! With decades of figures, variants, and vehicles out there, it can be a little overwhelming—but fear not, young Padawan. We’ll help guide you to a solid launch point with a special focus on the original 12 Kenner figures that began it all in 1978. From Luke to Leia, Vader to the Jawa, we’ll break down what makes these figures so iconic and how to navigate your first steps as a vintage collector.

And we’re not making this journey alone! Back on the show is our good friend Jake Book, who’s just started down this exciting (and slightly obsessive) path himself. He’s recently taken his first steps into a larger world of vintage Star Wars collecting, and we’re thrilled to hear what’s caught his eye so far. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just thinking about picking up your first figure, this episode is for you!

Then we talk about Road to the Past Collectibles to see if we should go there someday.
