  • The Vitamin Solution
We all know about the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet; however, let’s be real here, at times, following a well-rounded diet can be challenging (and boring). This reality is leaving adults deficient in critical nutrients, such as vitamins A, D, and E, and calcium and magnesium.
To fill nutritional gaps, many are increasingly using vitamins and supplements, which can be beneficial, but at the same time, if not taken correctly, can be dangerous to one’s health.
Romy Block, MD, (endocrinologist) and Arielle Levitan, MD, (internist), are helping clear up vitamin confusion for consumers in their new book, “The Vitamin Solution”.
Romy Block, MD, is a board-certified specialist in endocrine and metabolism medicine, member of American Thyroid Association, and the cofounder of Vous Vitamin, LLC.
Arielle Miller Levitan, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and the cofounder of Vous Vitamin, LLC. Both of these doctors are the co-authors of The Vitamin Solution: Two Doctors Clear Confusion About Vitamins and Your Health.

  • Beverly Johnson - The Face That Changed It All
During Beverly Johnson’s youth, “Fashion was never discussed in the Johnson home.” Yet, when the teenaged Beverly finally heeded the comments urging her to consider a modeling career, it was her mother who, ignoring her father’s disapproval, took Beverly to New York City to meet with a woman who had close relationships to the leading fashion magazines.
The successful four-decade career in modeling that followed is now passionately described by Johnson in The Face That Changed It All: A Memoir.
Johnson describes herself as a tall, painfully shy “nerd” who, while growing up in Buffalo, New York, always had her head in a book and loved swimming. Often bullied by her classmates, as a teen she also experienced attempted molestation from the father of a child she was babysitting. Despite original career aspirations to be a championship swimmer or a lawyer, a few chance encounters led her to New York City and a career in which Johnson eventually made her mark in 1974 as the first black cover model of Vogue.

  • The Story of Margaret Bendet
    About Margaret Bendet
What I most enjoy is telling my stories and helping other people tell theirs.
One of my pivotal moments came at fourteen, sitting on a drainage pipe with my friend Terry Shurig beside the I-40 access road that runs through North Tulsa. It was Saturday afternoon, we were bored, and our solution was to ride our bikes to this spot so we could chain smoke. While creating the habit it would later take me years to drop, I glared at the flat, dusty, unrelieved Oklahoma landscape and made myself a promise: I don’t care what else my life is, it’s got to be interesting.
And it has been. Over the years I’ve been a newspaper features editor, a Hindu nun, a suburban housewife, a Congressional press aide; I’ve hiked in the Himalayas and brought earthquake relief to villagers on the Deccan plateau; I’ve interviewed American rock stars, Indian holy men, Hawaiian kapunas, and I once committed myself to a state mental facility so I could write about what it was like to be a patient.
