The term "Toxic Filipino Culture" is spreading in social media as a way of critiquing certain bad habits in Filipino society like toxic positivity, "Bahala na," "Tumaba ka" etc. Together with our guest speaker, educator and grad student in Philippine studies, Michael Tabuyan, we discuss the nature of this phenomenon. We also tackle how to deal with supposedly Toxic Filipino culture, why Filipinos call our culture toxic, and whether or not Toxic-tagging is a good thing.

Last August 15, 2021, a gay man was attacked without provocation by a group of male teenagers in Zamboanga city. The video was released online on August 23 and attracted backlash from the LGBT community. In this slice, we discuss the underlying dynamics behind our society's violent impulses, the implications of this event on the LGBT community and their advocacies, and how we should proceed in addressing such violent tendencies.
