In episode 10 of The Plantiful Podcast we are sharing our conversation with Jeanette and Alex from Planted in Miami. Usually hosts on their own podcast, today we flip the mics and ask them all about their vegan journey and path toward quitting their corporate jobs and becoming full-time entrepreneurs – their veganism and entrepreneurial pursuits, as they explain, are inextricably linked.
On the precipice of making these monumental career changes, Jeanette and Alex had to figure out how they could downsize their lifestyle which included her cashing out of a 401(k) plan and his quitting his employer of 18 years. As Alex describes during his days as a Human Resources manager, he could hear himself telling new hires how long he had been there year after year and while the number kept growing, so too did his irrepressible fear of the numb state of being that shackled his freedom. For Jeanette, she faced the fact that her job applications and resume were not getting traction, which pushed her to explore the previously unknown world of freelance work, thus kickstarting her transition to entrepreneurship. Together, Alex and Jeannette had to dig deep inside themselves and support each other such that their sacrifices could present the possibilities of reaching toward of unchartered territories of newly discovered freedom, life and love. Now and forevermore questioning conventional wisdom, they strive to lead mindful and sustainable lives with the hopes of helping and inspiring others to light their own torch and run with it.
