  • Snowgreen Spincycle
Poised between two seasons, with a little bit of winter hanging on and lots of spring bursting forth, this episode -- our 30th! -- takes its' inspiration from two words: Snow and Green.
Every track has some connection to these words: Snow or Green appears in either the song title, artist's name or album title. Random, yes. But lots of fun to be guided to all kinds of excellent music by way of an arbitrary set of criteria.

  • Lunar Eclipse : New Music IV
no multitracking. no overdubs. no dub chambers, marsupial thumbdrives, algebraic nerf beats, Hekter McBuckleskins nor flamingos in the snow. just a mostly quiet mix made on a mostly quiet night, underneath a february lunar eclipse.
this is mostly new music to me, coming over the transom this past month or two, and represents what I listen to when I'm not roaming the outer banks of far-fetched multi-textured beats and grooves with DJ Playaduster. the vibe here is grounded and grounding, which is exactly what I need tonight, and maybe a little bit sentimental too.
Tonight's menu: Jack Johnson "What You Thought You Need" * Stephen Marley "Ina Di Red" with Ben Harper > "Office Jimmy/Iron Bars" * Zap Mama "1000 Ways" * Lionel Loueke "Seven Teens" with Herbie Hancock * Groove Collective "Outermost" * Jon Kennedy "Tell Me How You Feel" (Bonobo remix) * Jose Gonzalez "Down the Line" * Cowboy Junkies "Sweet Jane" from "Trinity Session Revisited" * Radiohead "House of Cards" Live 02.01.08 * Iron & Wine "Trapeze Swinger" Live 08 * Cat Power "Woman Left Lonely" > "Blue" * Ry Cooder "Long Ride" from "My Blueberry Nights" * Eddie Vedder "Long Nights" from "Into the Wild"

  • REORIENTATION (Hyper Primbly's Marsupial Thumbdrive)
DJ Playaduster's Green Man Trilogy, which began with "DISORIENTATION," leaves the playa and begins the difficult efforts to reenter the Default World in this second installment, "REORIENTATION," or better yet, "Hyper Primbly's marsupial thumbdrive."
Herein, the Four return to their respectable former lives in the Default World. We follow them from Smith Rock to the Nightlight Lounge to Birch Bay Beach as they attempt to keep their freshly-stoked flame alit despite confusing circumstances...

  • Winter Solstice: 2007 Retrospective
An offering: here's a mix of the music that has been filling my earholes, puzzling my mind, carbonating my soul, grounding my heart, challenging my perceptions or moving my butt in 2007...
Most of the songs explored herein were released in the past year, which makes me hopeful for the future of music. Artists include Bassnectar, Iron & Wine, Tord Gustavson, Robert Plant and Allsion Krauss, Charlie Hunter, Yo-Yo Ma, Radiohead, Gong Gong, Neil Young, Blue Scholars, Many Chao, Floratone, Joshua Redman, Ed Solo & SChool of Thought, Wilco, Glitch Mob and other fine musicians.
A full list DJ Fundi's favorite albums of 2007 can be read over on the Fundiblog alongside lists from fellow music lovers he calls friends. Email a list of your favorites to [email protected] and we'll post it there too.
If you like what you hear in "Dig Deep: 2007 Retrospective," buy the rest of the albums at your local independent record store!
