I typed the color-word "White" in to my iTunes and several dozens songs came up. I made an hour+ music mix from these options, enjoying the random constraints as I attempted to craft an audio journey for myself and for you. It helped me to dig deeper in to my vaults!
track list // Bill Frisell "White Fang" / Wilco "The Lonely 1" (White Version) / Parquet Courts "Black and White" / The Heptones "Choice of Black and White" / Gillian Welch "Six White Horses" / Doc Watson "Whitehouse Blues" / Elliott Smith "Bled White" / Morphine "Honey White" / The Field "Then It's White" / Bluetech "White Magnesia" / Pantha du Prince "White Out" / Thriftworks "Pearly Whites" / Fleet Foxes "White Winter Hymnal" / Neil Young + Crazy Horse "White Line" / Johnny Cash "Six White Horses" / Sturgill Simpson "Long White Line" / Iron & Wine "White Tooth Man" / The Whites "Keep on the Sunny Side" \\

  • Snow Moon in Mossland: new music at the end of winter
Ever so subtly, the seasons are shifting: days grow longer, buds swell on the branch, frogsong in the evening, not building as many fires for warmth. DJ Fundi has gone ahead and gathered up some very fresh new music and mixed it up for you. It was created on the last full moon - the "snow moon." Many of these tracks are singles from forthcoming albums we are very much looking forward to, including new music from Modest Mouse (two new tracks bookend the mix), Death Cab and Laura Marling; others are from albums just released, like Father John, Bjork, D'angelo; and finally, the rest are from some of the best albums released in 2014, many of which we featured in our last podcast mix "'Cause You Had Taste: 2014 Favorites." Enjoy!

  • Give Em What They Love : Summer Solstice 2014
By popular request, here is a New Music Blend that gathers together some of the best tunes that have been bumping out of The Podcast Cafe this summer: fresh tracks from old favorites like The Black Keys, Ray LaMontagne, Natalie Merchant, Jack White and Beck, alongside new discoveries like Chet Faker, Ayla Nereo and tUnE-yArDs, seasoned with a sprinkling of EDM cuts (curated by DJ Playaduster of Destination Burning Man) from The Polish Ambassador, Halo Refuser and Gramatik. This mix has been getting heavy play in our backyard beer garden, inspiring sing-alongs, making out and danceparties on more than one occasion!
    Happy Summer Solstice!
    Love you, DJ Fundi

  • Sacred Bass Sessions Vol. 1 : Beyond the Dream Dome (for Sabbahji)
This musical mix by Kaya Rainface is a soundtrack for our vision of Sacred Bass Sessions, like a mission statement, or a map to the subconscious nooks and crannies of your mind. It features music from the West Coast's finest DJs, producers and sound shamans, artists we either have already booked to play an upcoming SBS or are actively pursuing. The low-end mystical flow is deeply inspired by Rainface's time spent in the DreamDome at Photosynthesis 6 this past summer.

  • Autumanal Equinox III
The rains have returned in a big way to the wet side of the Cascades mountain range this week, signaling the definitive end of another gorgeous, carefree, playful summer in Ish River Country. We've been keeping summer hours here at the Podcast Cafe, releasing a couple of kick-ass bootleg concerts from the Dead and Panic but otherwise focused on outdoor pursuits.
As the season shifts, the Cafe springs back to life, with customers coming back around looking for steaming bowls of soup, hot toddies, spruce tip martinis and a place next to our blazing hearth. We're excited to welcome the winter weather back, and along with it all things cozy and good.
Here's a mix we've been tinkering with off and on for a month, full of new/recent songs from many of our standby favorites, but with a twist: our buddy DJ Playaduster from Destination Burning Man.com dropped in midway through our mixing and we decided to let him share some new music from the Realms of Elektronika to spice up the mix. He eases his entry in with the familiar voice of Bon Iver before launching off in to a half-hour journey that makes our heads spin and feet move….before we take back the controls and land the Fundiship back on Planet Earth just in time for dessert at the Cafe with amazing new songs from Mazzy Star (!!!), Pearl Jam and, finally, the sweet strains of Sam Beam.
    Hope you all enjoy!
