  • Not Couple Goals: Dracula 2000 (2000)

Welcome to “Not Couple Goals” where co-hosts Allie Nelson and Tyler McCarthy do a deep dive into a different ridiculous romantic thriller from the vantage point of their long-term relationship.

Allie, a TV writer/producer and actress, has an affinity for romantic thrillers, the more salacious the better. Tyler, an entertainment reporter and critic, often finds himself drawn in despite his better judgment. Join them as they explore all the ways it’s possible to love too hard… like WAY too hard.

In this episode Allie and Tyler keep the spooky season going with “Dracula 2000,” a movie with few redeeming qualities beyond Gerard Butler’s abs. Join them as they discuss whether he’s more of a Legolas or Aragorn, explain why Allie has seen this movie an inexplicable 15 times and hear Tyler air his grievances about local news reports and The Last Voyage of the Demeter (it ties in, don’t worry). Will this movie suck your blood? Or will it just plain… you get it.

Special thanks to Mallory Johns for the introduction music.

  • Bill vs. The MCU: Defenders Disassembled - Luke Cage S2

Hello and welcome to Bill vs the MCU! Each month your hosts Pop Break Podcasting Director Alex Marcus and Pop Break Editor in Chief Bill Bodkin are taking another step into the wider Marvel Multiverse as the MCU dives deeper into their Multiverse Saga.

Bill & Alex spent all of 2022 rewatching the first four phases of the MCU, and they just spent 2023 covering the first phase of Netflix’s The Defenders Saga and the first four seasons of ABC’s Agents of SHIELD. This year, they journeyed into Fox’s X-Verse with their X-Treme X-Watch.

Now they are back with their Defenders Disassembled miniseries, where they take a tour through all the final seasons of every Marvel Netflix series as they get ready for the triumphant return of Matt, Karen, Foggy, and Frank in Daredevil: Born Again this spring.

Part 2 of their coverage has been a bit delayed, as they took some time to review Deadpool & Wolverine, react to the shocking news that RDJ will be playing Doctor Doom in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, and Bill took a much needed trip to Disneyland!

First, check out Bill’s walk through of everything he experienced at Avengers Campus during his Disneyland trip. Then, stick around for an in depth discussion of the criminally underrated second and, sadly, final season of Luke Cage, wherein Luke’s morality is tested as his personal relationships feel the strain of his vigilante life and Harlem is overrun by a bitter family feud between Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Stokes Dillion and Bushmaster, the leader of a Jamaican crime family.

Watch along with us! Next episode’s title is Iron Fist S2 (available to stream on Disney+), which will be covered in our episode later this month.

  • TV Break: September 2024 - Pachinko S2, Kaiju no. 8, NFL Hard Knocks, and 2024 Emmy Preview

Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.

On today’s show, we be doing things a LITTLE differently. As Green Day once said, summer has come and passed, the innocent can never last, and, as it turns out, great new shows can never last either, so in lieu of a new series spotlight this month, we have dared each other to watch a recent favorite of our own, including Apple TV+’s Pachinko S2, HBO’s Hard Knocks, and Crunchyroll’s Kaiju no. 8.That’s right, all is good and right in the world and the Emmy’s have returned to their rightful place at the start of September where they will be largely ignored in favor of Sunday Night Football. After Hollywood’s strikes had pushed last year’s Emmy’s into January, making 2024 the rare year where two Emmy’s telecasts technically took place. To celebrate, we will be bringing back our annual tradition of skipping the Streaming Wars and instead crafting a Program of the Year category out of all the series nominated for best series in this years awards. We will also discuss some of the big storylines to look out for if you chose to check out this year’s telecast on Sunday September 15th on ABC.

This episode marks a first for “Not Couple Goals” in that it’s the first time Allie and Tyler have covered a sequel (see their past episode on “X”). Join them as Allie gets on a weird tangent about crows and Tyler marvels at one of the most unhinged recaps they do to date! Do they get to the bottom of Pearl’s psychosis or simply mock her projectionist boyfriend? Listen and find out.
