  • Roses & Rejections: Bachelorette S21E7

Welcome back to another episode of our podcast all about the ABC reality series The Bachelor and its many spin-offs.

ThePopBreak.com's Michelle Coraci, who has been recapping all things Bachelor for The Pop Break for years, and co-host DJ Chapman, of Mostly Nitpicking, are back talking about the latest season of The Bachelorette!

This week Michelle and DJ cover a very uninteresting set of hometowns. Unfortunately, for them and anyone who watched this, these dates were rather indistinguishable from one another. So instead of talking about the hometowns Michelle and DJ spend some time with predictions and discussing what it takes to have "visited" a city.

If you have thoughts or suggestions for what you’d like Michelle and DJ to cover during the offseason or opinion about all things Bachelor & Bachelorette, be sure to reach out via twitter @Roses&Rejections!

  • Batman By The Numbers: Batman Caped Crusader S1 Review

There’s arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman.  No matter how many times he’s been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City’s greatest defender.  With so much Bat content out there, there’s plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank!  This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman’s history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters.

Join host Daniel Cohen, Pop Break’s former Film Editor and Resident Bat-Maven, as he brings on several guests every month to share his passion for the one and only Dark Knight.  From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned.  Bottom-line: If you’re a Batman fan, this is required listening.

In what is definitely the biggest story in the world of Batman right now, you know we had to do an episode on the new Amazon series, Batman: Caped Crusader.  Daniel is joined once again by Podcasting Director of the Pop Break, Alex Marcus, as the two sing the praises of this phenomenal addition to the Batman canon.

SPOILERS ARE ON as the duo discuss all ten episodes.

They dive heavily into all the reimagined villains, and both have a hot take on Harvey Dent/Two-Face.  No villain stone is left unturned.  Clayface.  Catwoman.  Penguin.  Harley Quinn.  Firebug?  All are discussed.  Daniel also criticizes one of the villains used, but then realizes he was talking about the wrong villain!  That happened.  Not only are the villains discussed, but they praise the use of all the supporting characters, including Barbara Gordon, Renee Montoya, and…Pennyworth?

Hear Daniel and Alex argue about the episode where there’s a ghost!  One is positive.  One is negative.  You’ll have to listen to find out who’s on which side!

They also discuss favorite scenes, favorite Batman moments, top episodes, and Daniel gets annoyed at a certain cameo tease at the end.  Also, months after Daniel’s passionate defense and thesis about Harvey Bullock being a complex character with tons of potential in a previous podcast, Alex tries to poke the bear on Bullock’s different type of role in this series...Daniel does turn the tables though when a certain Robin is conveniently left out in one particular episode…If you loved this show like most Batman fans did, this is a must listen to episode!

Also…we tease a BIG rankings episode for next month!

In the second half of this section, they put on their deer antlers, do the shika dance, and discuss the bizarrely brilliant My Deer Friend Nokatan. They talk about everyone's favorite deer-human hybrid Noko Shikanoko and former delinquent Torako Koshi aka Koshitan, their favorite pop culture references this anime makes, and even sing deer songs.

  • Not Couple Goals: Lisa Frankenstein (2024)

Welcome to “Not Couple Goals” where co-hosts Allie Nelson and Tyler McCarthy do a deep dive into a different ridiculous romantic thriller from the vantage point of their long-term relationship.

Allie, a TV writer/producer and actress, has an affinity for romantic thrillers, the more salacious the better. Tyler, an entertainment reporter and critic, often finds himself drawn in despite his better judgment. Join them as they explore all the ways it’s possible to love too hard… like WAY too hard.

In this episode, Allie and Tyler do a soft launch of their Spooky Season content with the comedic-leaning “Lisa Frankenstein” (2024) starring Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse, written by Diablo Cody and directed by Zelda Williams. Join them as they pitch a few better versions of this movie, discuss their love/hate (mostly hate) relationship to Cody’s movies and debate whether the movie’s creature is motivated by malice or a series of oopsies. Can they patch together a working plot out of this assortment of dead parts? Listen and find out.
