Elite Body Sculpture offers a form of liposuction called AirSculpt. Their advertising says it's minimally invasive, dramatic results with almost no downtime, no stitches, no needle, no scalpel, and you won't have to wait for swelling to go down for 3 months. What they don't tell you is that you still need massages, a proper garment, lipo foams, and post-op care.
AirSculpt is STILL liposuction. It's still surgery, and you will still have swelling.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to physically remove the fat from an area. During the healing process, swelling fills up the space where the fat was taken out to heal the tissue. This is why we think the "lipo didn't work." You're looking to see results in that space, but it's full of swelling.
You can heal, and swelling can still be trapped in the tissue, making it look like no work was done.
In this video, Ashley talks about common things that cause swelling to get trapped in the lipo area and what we can do to get your swelling down to see your surgery results.

A lot of articles and surgeons say you can start as early as 48 hours after surgery, and that is true, but when is the best time to start? How many should I start with? What massage should I start with? When is it too late to start?
Within the first 3 months post-op, you need gentle Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage. The article referenced in the video includes 2 very well known surgeon #drneinstein and #subbio who explain that lymphatic massage should be a gentle pressure massage, started as early as 48 hours post-op to prevent hardness, lumps, bumps and irregularities caused by fibrosis ( a buildup of proteins and swelling).
Ashley also covers what kind of lipo foam you should have and how to use the Amare lipo foam in your garment to help with swelling and fibrosis as well as the role of compression garments.

Axillary web syndrome (AWS) or lymphatic cording, is the formation of fibrotic bands or cords reaching from the axilla(armpit) to the antecubital fossa (elbow crease) and the base of the thumb after breast cancer surgery.
It is a form of fibrosis and can be reversed/ healed.
The potential for fibrotic cords can happen after lymph node removal surgery from cancer, Arm Lipo, Arm Lift, skin tightening procedures to the arms, and any other event that would cause a significant amount of swelling near the lymph node site.
Web cording is not exclusive to the armpit area. It can happen in the breast, chest, and abdominal region.
Lymphatic cording is an inflammatory process, and we don't want to pop or stretch the cords, creating a potential for more swelling and inflammation.

Draining fluid post-op is NOT LEGAL for massage therapists.
In this video, Ashley reviews both consent orders from the New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork that we posted the past 2 weeks. She also goes over the regulations and statutes for massage therapy licenses in New Jersey as well as the scope of practice on what is allowed and why these practitioners got fined/their licenses suspended for doing incisional drainage, pushing fluids out of clients, using needles and many other things.
️️-The letter states that "post-op massage is also known as lymphatic drainage massage or manual lymphatic drainage. Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle form of massage used to relieve painful swelling caused by lymphedema. The massage moves a patient's lymphatic fluid to their lymph nodes, allowing the patient to expel the lymphatic fluid naturally through a bowel movement or urination."
- ️The business practices chapter of our regulations states: " A licensee who engages in the use of advertising that contains false, fraudulent, misleading or deceptive claims is engaging in professional misconduct."
By these practitioners calling incisional drainage lymphatic massage, they are directly violating their license.

A common thing after surgery is the neck pain from sleeping face down, twisting your neck, causing shoulder pain/ neck pain, and face swelling.
This is a great option for when you're awake during the day or even taking a nap to give your neck and shoulders a break!
It helps keep the spine relaxed and aligned as well as taking the pressure off your stomach/chest.

This is a real client of ours who came to us with so much fibrosis that she couldn't move her neck or head after chin lipo.
NO.
It wasn't from surgery.
It was the bad aftercare and the WRONG massages after her surgery.
IF YOUR MASSAGES MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE, THEY ARE THE WRONG KIND OF MASSAGE!!
She was sent for wood therapy, cavitation, carboxy, Swedish massage, rough, aggressive, painful oil rubbing massage that was supposed to be "lymphatic massage," and all other kinds of "post-op massage".
