For the first episode of The Potscast in 2024, Iām immensely proud to offer you the Ukraine Special - a continuation of my chat with Julia Makliuk of Here & Now Pottery.
I try to keep the real world and politics out of my pottery world, but sometimes there is a very clear overlap.
We start with how life has changed and we end up with words of hope and we both remember one very important thing - History and, more importantly, Family Stories passed from generation to generation.
So I dedicate this, and all my podcast episodes to Storytelling - the Telling of Storiesā¦
If you would like to support Yuliya, or just want to find out moreā¦
In the final Potscast of 2023, I am joined by Yuliya Makliuk of Here & Now Pottery, based in Ukraine. In this episode we will be focussing on her pottery and discussing her amazing book,
Potters Save The World

After making me feel really guilty about my carbon footprint, Yuliya gives us the top three things we can do to make our pottery more sustainable.

I thought this week, Iād let you follow the possible drama and mishaps as I keep you updated on events, as they happen, from Weds until yesterday, Friday.
The state of play is this:
Delivery is scheduled for Monday, which means everything has to come out of the Bisque kiln on Weds night/Thurs Morning, I have to glaze and get everything dried again and in the kiln by Friday at the latest, so that they are cool on Sunday, so I can sand down and pack, ready for deliveryā¦
ā¦and nothing, nothing is allowed to break in either kiln š³
Do I succeed? Youāll have to listenā¦š
