Emotions are powerful. They can rise quickly, shift your perspective, and make something feel far more urgent or intense than it actually is. In the moment, they feel real, justified, and even necessary. But if they are not anchored, they can pull you out of alignment faster than almost anything else.
BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT
Wisdom does not ignore emotions, but it refuses to be led by them.
OUR SPRINGBOARD FOR TODAY’S DISCUSSION IS:
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.”Ephesians 4:26 (ESV)
Coffee and Calling
It is amazing what God can do with a coffee and a calling.
If this message stirs you, help us keep speaking truth, forging faith, and equipping the next generation of warriors.

Emotions are not the problem.
They are part of how you process what is happening around you. They can alert you to something that needs attention. They can highlight areas where something is off. But they are not designed to lead your decisions.
That is where things go wrong.
When emotions rise, they can take control if you are not grounded. They push for immediate responses. They amplify situations. They make you feel like you need to act right now, even if you have not fully processed what is happening.
I have had moments where emotion took the lead before I even realized it. A reaction came out quickly, and later I had to deal with the impact of it. Not because what I felt was wrong, but because I allowed it to guide my response instead of pausing and bringing it back under control.
Wisdom creates that pause.
It does not shut down emotion, but it refuses to let emotion dictate the outcome. It brings everything back to what is true. What has God already said? What aligns with His direction? That becomes the anchor when everything inside you feels unsettled.
Paul’s instruction is clear. Be angry, but do not sin. That means the emotion itself is not the issue. It is what you do with it that matters.
When emotion is not anchored, it leads to words you cannot take back, decisions you later regret, and reactions that create unnecessary damage. When it is anchored, it can be processed in a way that leads to clarity instead of chaos.
Grounding yourself in the moment is not complicated, but it does require discipline.
You have to slow down. You have to step back from the immediate reaction. You have to bring your focus back to truth instead of letting feeling take over.
That is not always easy, especially when something feels personal or intense. But that is exactly where wisdom shows up.
Right now, there may be something stirring in you. Frustration. Anger. Anxiety. Whatever it is, it feels real. It feels pressing. But before you act on it, there is a decision to make.
Will you let it lead, or will you anchor it?
Wisdom anchors it.

Father, help me stay grounded when my emotions rise. Teach me to bring everything back to truth and not react out of impulse. Give me control over my responses and help me stay aligned with You in every situation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
