It’s easy to think of joy and happiness as the same thing, but they are so very different.  Happiness is a temporary feeling brought on by something, whereas joy is in the soul, it’s permanent.  There is no doubt that a trip to the local ice cream shop would bring George happiness, followed probably by indigestion. The intangible things that can bring us a sliver of happiness when we’re inside the storm with the waves crashing down around us, that’s joy.  Is your life driven by happiness or joy?

What is your reaction when someone pisses you off, things aren’t going the way you had planned, or you have a past hurt resurfacing?  Your heart needs to communicate, but your mind probably convinces you it’s not a good idea. Maybe you do speak up, but it’s only to be heard with the intention of being ‘right’.  Our ability to truly communicate has diminished, George admits it was his weakest subject for a long time. When we can learn to communicate effectively we become so much more powerful.
