The Power of Neuromuscular Therapy

Listen Later

Today we’re talking about bodywork, specifically neuromuscular therapy, with Elizabeth Goldberg, a licensed massage therapist and wellness coach. Neuromuscular therapy, sometimes called trigger-point massage, is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems.
This medically-oriented form of massage therapy addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.
By working with incredible practitioners, Elizabeth was able to not only relieve the pain in her back but also developed a new relationship with her body and mind. She believes strongly in the power of therapeutic bodywork.
Elizabeth practices at Freed Bodyworks on Capitol Hill, and she first came to massage as a client with a repetitive stress injury.
