It might be a no-brainer to say, but in the autograph world, there are 2 huge categories everything can be broken down into. Items from players there are deceased or retired, and items from players that are still very active or even new.

Eventually, you'll even have to ask yourself, which category is better for my investing? What autographs are better to buy long-term? This can be a hard question to answer. While the new and current players feel so much more exciting and it can be so easy to get caught up in the hype and want to be a part of it.

The reality is this also makes current player items more volatile and unpredictable. For me, that just isn't the game I'm looking to play when it comes to my autographs. So today we're going to talk about why retired and deceased players might be the safer way to go.

Of course, these are just my thoughts and opinions, but it is a huge question that you need to answer for yourself if you're going to be comfortable in this hobby! I'll help you come to your own answer for this question today on the Power's Sports Memorabilia Show!

I've been hitting on this topic for a few videos now, and I want to keep it going. This is such a minor thing in the grand scheme of collectibles, but when you start narrowing down on just the topic of sports autographs, it is suddenly is a HUGE DEAL!

Do you want your once-in-a-lifetime signed jersey to have a terrible looking signature on it?  Absolutely not.  But what do you do when you just don't know if the sharpie or paint pen you have will look good on that special jersey of yours? The Sports Memorabilia and Collectibles industry has really just been astounding the last year or so. There have been tons and huge deals and the industry just seems to be booming with no signs in sight of slowing down, but with all that great news, comes some downsides as well.

Today the huge downside that I'm talking about is the "Pump and Dump" scheme. Now you can see this scheme happen in literally any industry and in any market, and we are all kidding ourselves if we think this kind of market manipulation isn't happening in our very own hobby as well.

What an exciting time for the sports card hobby! I have got to say, there has just never been more action going on that in these recent months. Card values rising, the National Convention, companies going public, and now... Fanatics signing an absolutely insane and exclusive deal for rights to the MLB license!? I mean really?

Just wow, what a time for the hobby. After so many years in the hands of Topps, to be jumping to a new organization is just crazy, and I'm sure it will bring with it some very cool new items from Fanatics, but also maybe  help push the other big names to think outside the box and innovate even more. Time can only tell!

I get this question SO OFTEN! Everyone is always asking, always commenting, they always want to know. What are the best pens to use for autographs? What are the best colors?

Today I'm asking the hotly asked question, and I hate to break it to you, but it might be a little more complex than you thought. That time is coming up, the National Convention for Sports Collectors! So, where will it be held? Well, there are some set requirements for a city to even be considered as the holding spot for this historic convention, but there are also some although requirements that aren't on paper, but should still be considered.
