Paul is clear in 2 Thessalonians 2 that the Antichrist will appear things only after the Church has been raptured to be with Christ. So what does this mean? We need to be about the Lord's work and be ready for His return for us. Are you ready for Jesus to return for the Church? To return for you? You can be by walking with Him and following Him each day, so that when He returns, we won't shrink back in shame.
Those 10 spies who were sent out to the Promised Land were depending upon their physical senses and not enough upon the promises God had given them—that they would inherit the land because God said so. They were basing the promise of God upon their perception of the obstacle, and we all-too-frequently can do the same thing in our lives. They saw a giant and they said, "Well, it just can't happen. Well, there's a giant." Frequently this hesitancy is what happens to so many of us when our attention gets diverted to the obstacle, the storm, the giant, the sickness, the issue in front of us, and we put all of our focus upon that we are denying God the opportunity to fulfill His Word. We are saying that this giant, this obstacle, this storm, this problem is more potent than the Creator God Himself. But when we change our perception of our circumstances—not ignoring them—recognizing who is ultimately in control, we can again walk by faith in the Lord through anything.
Do you ever need a reminder that God's going to work through your circumstances? In Part 2 of the series, "Beyond the Giants", Pastor Jeff reminds us that facing giants is a regular part of our spiritual walk. We ought not be discouraged, but we do need to remember what even Jesus told His disciples—we'll have tribulation in this life, but He'll be with us.
The stories of victory throughout the Bible are an encouragement to us as believers who live in a fallen, sinful world. Many times we face opposition, giants of a kind, and we often look forward to how God will deliver us from these difficult times; however, something we must realize is that once once a giant is conquered, there's often another right behind it. The sobering reality is that our lives are full of trials and obstacles, but we shouldn't be discouraged by this. It's another opportunity for God to deliver and provide.
Pastor Jeff encourages us in Episode 96 to have such a close relationship with Jesus that it feels as if we are the only one that He loves. We know that Jesus doesn't play favorites, but oftentimes we forfeit the closeness of Christ for other things in this world. Subscribe and listen to this week's PrayFull Podcast!
Independence is a beautiful gift, especially considering the blessing it is to live in a free country. At times in our lives we can become independent from God, but He wants us (plus, we need to be, and in reality we are) to be dependent upon Him. While independence is good in certain contexts, it's never ideal in our walk with God. We need Him. Join us today for the latest from Pastor Jeff McKee as we look at the need to be In Dependence.
We can rest in the reality that we are saved and God calls us friend; however, we should also remember that we worship the Sovereign. God is our friend, but He is Lord and Master, and we should approach Him with reverence. Pastor Jeff challenges us in this episode to not get too comfortable with God!
