  • Ep 08 - Discounts - Should You Use Them?
One of the most common questions I get asked is around DISCOUNTS!
    - Should I use them?
    - How much should I discount by?
    - Should I discount once, or at certain times of the year?
In this episode, I share how business owners should think about discounts, how to use them strategically, and the dangers they can pose to a business (particularly a newer or micro business).

  • Ep 07 - How Hourly Rates Make Customers Resent You And How To Price Instead
In this episode, I talk to Michelle Marks - founder of Laptops and Lattes.
We talked about Michelle's journey into business, the insights she gained from her former businesses, and the business-saving lessons she's learned about pricing on the way.
As a former VA and graphic designer, Michelle knows all too well the struggle when it comes to pricing and charging hourly rates. An hourly rate can create resentment on both sides - for the business owner and the customer - we talked about why this is, and how to price more positively and profitably.
Michelle, the stationery obsessed founder of Laptops and Lattes. Secretly she is a hot chocolate drinker, but I know you won't hold that against her.
As a solopreneur, working from home. One thing she misses about working in an office with other humans is the camaraderie. And gathering around the boardroom table with a cuppa and biccies to brainstorm ideas for the next project. Being a mum to small kids, availability was always an issue when it came to attending networking events. So Laptops and Lattes was my answer to both of those issues.

  • Ep 03 - Why "Cover Your Costs" Is The Worst Pricing Advice
In this episode, I go through 7 reasons why "Cover Your Costs" is the worst pricing advice EVER. It's one of the most common responses to questions in business groups/forums when it comes to pricing.
The people who share this advice are well-intentioned, but aren't pricing experts. There are many potential dangers to cost-plus pricing that especially apply to smaller businesses.
This video/podcast came about from a blog post I wrote by the same title, which you can read here: https://www.courtneydeagon.com/articles/7-reasons-why-cover-your-costs-is-the-worst-pricing-advice
