Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the Olympic Controversy surrounding women's boxing. Imane Khelif of Algeria possessor of the Y chromosome vs Angela Carini of Italy did not last long yesterday. Carini left the fight after feeling unsafe and said in the post fight press conference that she had to "preserve my life as well in that moment.", in reference to why she stopped the fight. She said she had never been hit that hard in her boxing career. This situation has boiled into a contentious debate over whether Khalif should have been allowed to fight in the Olympics in the women's bracket. Gibbs talks about this series of events and discusses Biblical authority over the world and the beautiful hope that Jesus provides to a sinful world.

Today on the podcast Gibbs reminds team Lancaster Thunder that our identity in Jesus has been given to us not earned. The team USA men's basketball team started their Olympic journey over the weekend and the talented Kevin Durant put on a shooting clinic for the world to see. To read about his sneaker line click here...A Complete Timeline and History of All Kevin Durant Shoes – The Fresh Press by Finish Line Durant's nicknames are "Easy Money Sniper" or "The Slim Reaper". He talked about how he felt he had to earn the "Slim Reaper" nickname in a recent interview. This got me thinking about how our "new identity" in Christ Jesus is given to us not earned. It is Jesus accomplishments upon which we stand not our own. This is easy to forget, and there is temptation to try and earn our identity in Christ instead of abiding in the work Christ has accomplished on our behalf. Can you see how the Lord is at work in you over the years?
