Welcome to another seasonal episode. Spring is finally here and in this episode is dedicated to the energy of this season; how we might be feeling, what rituals and routines we can adopt to feel and function our best, what's in season, what to eat and other tips and musings. I talk about what this particular season represents and symbolises, looking specifically at managing energy levels, setting intentions, awakening creativity and embracing authenticity and being a work in progress. At the end of the episode - just as in the winter episode (ep. 10) - I share a few of my favourite quotes related to Spring, as well as, this time, ten of my favourite songs to add to your Spring / Summer playlists, that I think encapsulate the vibe and energy of Springtime.
To me, being in tune with the cycles of nature and the seasons is such an important and fascinating part of well being. As seasons change, so do we, and I love how each seasonal shift reveals and emphasises just how connected we are to the world outside of us. We are affected differently by things at certain times of the year, and certain phases of the month, even. Things like the weather, climate, collective energy and more can affect how we feel; regardless of whether we're eating the right things or working out consistently. And these things often affect us deeply on a mental, emotional and energetic level; both consciously or subconsciously. So, these episodes are designed to help you to understand nature and the cycles of the planet more deeply in order to understand yourself better, too.

In this guest episode I sit down for a well overdue catch up with my good friend Bonnie Wright. Bonnie and I met many years ago in London and bonded initially over a mutual love of good food and wellbeing, amongst other things. Our journeys have both of course developed since then and evolved in many ways, and Bonnie has been a constant source of inspiration to me over the years in many areas of my life.
In this episode, we talk about so many things. We explore Bonnie's journey within the sustainability space and her work contributing to the climate crisis, joining forces such as Greenpeace and Oxfam to initiate great change in the world. We talk about how she first became aware of the issues we increasingly face, as well as the pillars of a simpler, slower lifestyle that she feels we should prioritise in order to become more conscious about our impact on the planet. We also talk about how living sustainably is actually not about living with less, or sacrificing too much, but can be about living with more; just more of the right things. We look at living sustainably whilst still living abundantly, in new and often more joyful ways.
We also delve deep into finding balance mentally and physically, how to work from home in a less high-pressure way, the importance of self worth, and how asking for what you want in life is the key to actually, ultimately, getting anywhere. We talk about how to keep going when times are tough or you feel stuck, we talk about knowing when to let go of something that isn't coming easily and we talk about how to have a more open mindset at times, in order to be guided in an even more suitable direction than you perhaps imagined for yourself.
SHOW NOTES:
Welcome to the first Wake Up Well Morning Session. Designed to be really short episodes to be listened to whilst you go about your morning routine, enjoy your coffee or get ready for your day, the intention of these sessions is to help you prepare and to inspire a more positive mindset at the beginning of your day. Each episode will vary on topic but will be around how you can best prepare for your day ahead. Episodes will include suggestions and advice on morning routines, how to deal with and process certain feelings of emotions, rituals to improve things like positivity and energy levels, as well as guest interviews to inspire you at the beginning of the day and put you into a good mindset, with a good mood, from the get-go.
I'll be sharing rituals and recipe ideas as well as general advice based on how to handle certain thoughts and feelings, and how to spend your mornings in a positive way that really does impact how the rest of your day unfolds.
In this episode, I'm sharing a few thoughts on morning routines. I'm not outlining my own morning routine as I am a strong believer that everyones routines could, and should, look different. Instead, I outline some of the main pillars that structure a good morning and can have really positive impacts on how you feel at the beginning of the day, and on the rest of your day. For me, it's a combination of Mind, Body, Brain, Movement, Nature, Stimulation and Speed. I delve deep into each one in this episode, sharing general advice on why each of these things are so important if you want to start the day feeling good, function fully and live well.

In this guided episode I am so pleased to share a 25 minute meditation guided by Will Williams of Beeja Meditation. Beeja offer online and in-person meditation courses, as well as now an app so you can learn and practice virtually. This guided meditation is based on vulnerability and is intended to help encourage you to embrace weaknesses and move through life in a more empowered way, regardless of whether you might stumble or fail along the way. It is, after all, all part of the process.
If you missed the last guest episode with Will, I highly recommend you give it a listen as it has been by far one of my favourite chats recently. It's a long episode, but I hope it gives a really authentic insight into why we experience anxiety, how it shows up and manifests in people differently, how we can manage it on a personal level, as well as why we need to stop playing it safe in life, and how that prevents us from living fully.
But for now, find a comfortable space to sit or lie, preferably without distractions, and enjoy this really transformational practice. It’s something I’ll be coming back to again and again and I hope you will too.

In this guest episode, I sit down with Will Willam's - founder of Beeja meditation and author of The Effortless Mind; Meditation for the Modern World. We delve deep into the topic or anxiety, depression and taking control of our nervous systems, as well as how to stop living in fear and start living a more authentic life.
Will and I met years ago in London co-hosting mindfulness events and I also eventually enrolled in one of his weekend-long meditation courses, which I loved. I love Will's approach to meditation, mindfulness, wellbeing and spirituality, and in this episode we talk about what anxiety is and why we experience it now more than ever, as well as how and why it can show up and manifest differently in each of us. We talk about simple tools for handling anxiety, including all the different types of meditation for anyone who hasn't tried it yet. We talk about how there is no right or wrong way to meditate, and how it is not about experiencing a specific transformation or achieving one particular outcome; but is instead about personal shifts that help us become more connected to our true and authentic selves.
We talk about how we have been conditioned to fear things and about the danger of playing it safe in life and staying in our comfort zones. We talk about how playing it safe can actually be unsafe, on a mental and emotional level. And we talk about the importance of feeling EVERYTHING in life - even the uncomfortable parts - in order to truly feel deep fulfilment and happiness. We talk about how we all have a journey but how we're often too scared to let go and let it unfold; always needing to control things for fear of things not always going "well" or feeling "good".
We also talk about how we have a tendency to outsource our health and happiness, and the importance of us taking back control and using tools to make more empowered decisions. We talk for almost an hour and a half so sorry if it's a bit intimidating but every part just keeps getting better so I hope you'll lose track of time and enjoy every second of it as we did.

In this guest episode, I sit down with Natali Stajcic of On Balance. Natali and I met years ago when we were both launching wellness start up's in the food and beverage industry. A stressful time, to say the least, but not only that, also a very testing and transformational one in terms of getting to know ourselves better. We both experienced huge amounts of self-doubt and anxiety during that time in our lives, as a side affect of running a business, and both believe it subsequently led us to search for very different kinds of wellbeing, beyond the food we were eating.
This episode is led by our mutual experiences with imposter syndrome, self-doubt, low self-worth and lack of self-acceptance, as well as dealing more generally with anxiety and bouts of depression. We focus a lot on the importance of self-inquiry - that is, spending time with yourself asking questions that can guide you to have a deeper sense of self-understanding. This is something we both believe plays a key role in wellbeing and finding happiness and contentment. We also talk about the importance of self-compassion, and how being accepting and compassionate to yourself is also key in moving through dark or low times, with more ease and understanding.
We talk about noticing the ego and the importance of exercising more awareness in things, everyday. We talk about understanding your personal needs more, and how to integrate regular tools and practices into your routines in order to give yourself what you need from one day to the next, and also in order to feel motivated, capable and prepared for whatever comes your way. We also talk about the hidden beauty and magic in any rock bottom in your life, and how sometimes the most disruptive and painful experiences are the ones we need most; and the ones that completely improve and enhance our experiences on the other side of the discomfort.

In this guest episode, I sit down with my good friend Tasha Franken for an in-depth chat about food, fitness, finding balance and finding a healthy relationship with "wellness". We hear a lot about the importance of developing a healthy relationship with food, but we discuss the importance of finding balance with fitness, too, as well as all other areas of your life, and how imbalances indicate unrest deep within; not just physically but hormonally, emotionally and energetically, too.
We talk a lot about the beauty of being a constant work in progress, as unsettling or tiring as that may sound, as well as how to find rituals and routines that work for you. We discuss why you should take everyone else's tips with a pinch of salt, and instead of copy and pasting them to your life, commit to trying different things and cherry picking the bits you like most and that seem realistic to you. We talk about how we both did a 360 in terms of our fitness journeys, coming back to gentleness and simplicity after desperately seeking out diets and workouts that we thought would completely change our lives. We talk about turning inward, and leading with empowered intuition. And we talk about dropping rules and restrictions, and prioritising joy in all areas of your life; even fitness and nutrition.
Beyond food and fitness, we also talk about trusting the timing of your life, and leading with what feels good; without urgency or comparison to others. We talk about the importance of having empathy and compassion towards yourself, emotionally and physically, and embracing a long-term journey with commitment, responsibility and relevant work in order to look, feel and show up exactly how you want to in life.

MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:
The Landscape Lodge
This week I wanted to share a short episode on the moon; specifically the full moon as it is coming up this weekend on February 27th.
The moon cycles and the phases of lunar calendar are something that have interested me for a while now, and I first started learning about them a few years ago when I began my journey into wellbeing and holistic living. The moon govern a lot with their gravitational pull, one example being the tides, but beyond affecting things environmentally, they also have an affect on animals and humans, mentally, physically and emotionally. It's a really intricate system and one that I feel there is always more to learn about. There are, as with most things in wellness, many varying factors, but in this episode I share a simple and general approach to how the moon works and how it might affect us at different times of the month, and why.
I also share some advice and a few tips on how to navigate the time leading up to and during the full moon, as well as a few simple rituals which can be supportive and nourishing, too. More than anything, this episode is intended to offer an insight to the idea of how so much going on around us and outside of us can dictate and determine how we look, think, feel and act, from one day to the next. It's not that black and white, and this idea should be taking with a pinch of salt and explored further, but it is something that has personally been really eye opening for me, and as helped me to gain deeper understanding of how things work, how I work, and how we are all part of something much bigger than just ourselves; a powerful and magical collective that can't always be understood or explained with words.
SHOW NOTES:
In these seasonal episodes - which I'll be releasing four times a year - I discuss each seasonal shift and what each season represents and resembles. To me, being in tune with the cycles of nature and the seasons is such an important and fascinating part of well being. As seasons change, so do we, and I love how each seasonal shift reveals and emphasises just how connected we are to the world outside of us. Wellness is often advertised as something determined by the way we act - the lifestyle choices we make, the food we eat, our much exercise we get, etc - but sometimes, no matter how "well" we're living, we might not feel as well as we'd like to, and that might be down to something beyond us completely.
In this episode I discuss what Winter represents and what is going on around us during this season, in particular. I discuss how we might be feeling and why, as well as what is happening in nature and how we might be affected in the same ways. I cover seasonal produce and eating in line with the seasons for optimal wellbeing on a nutritional but also energetic and emotional level. And I also share a few inspiring quotes on the topic of Winter, too.
