Last week, I featured where college football players come from — so let’s take a look at where college basketball players come from.

Of the 5,510 Division I men's college basketball players, 85% of them come from the United States.

California, Texas, and Georgia have produced the most D1 hoopers — and big cities like Houston, Chicago, LA, Baltimore, and New York City have the highest concentration.

Heading to the international scene…

Canada is the foreign country with the most players (146), ahead of Australia (66) and Nigeria (42).

All in all, basketball is a worldwide sport with the average D1 team having 2.3 players on their roster from a country other than the United States.

It makes me laugh when parents think their kid is going D1 just cause he scored 20 points in a high school game — you’re competing against the world for a spot, not just your local area.

Here’s a thought-provoker:

Personally, I agree that society will consume less alcohol going forward (but don’t think it will become as taboo as cigarettes).

Kids smoke vapes and e-cigarettes at an alarmingly high rate.

And alcohol consumption is less for two reasons:

It may sound simple, but many people struggle with this and need to be reminded.

Make sure you know what your job is worth in the marketplace — you can do this by conducting an evaluation of your skills, productivity, job tasks, contribution to the company, and the going rate, both inside and outside the company, for what you do.

Being underpaid even by $1,000 a year can have a significant cumulative effect over the course of your working life.

No matter how much or how little you're paid, you'll never get ahead if you spend more than you earn.

Often it's easier to spend less than it is to earn more, and a little cost-cutting effort in a number of areas can result in savings.

In 1545, a man by the name of Diego Gualpa discovered Cerro Rico, also known as “rich hill”.

It was a mountain of silver that changed the economic history of the world forever. It also created the saying - To be worth POTOSI!

Not long after the news got out, the Spanish discovered the wealth of the land and began to export silver back to their homeland. 

It had two major implications:

* What the Spaniards didn’t realize was that the influx in the supply of silver (their medium of currency) would have a counterintuitive impact on the country’s economy. With the supply of money up, the demand decreased and forced prices to rise. This was the beginning of inflation in Spain and the Spanish Banking crisis. 

* In the excavation, each piece of silver is rumored to have cost the lives of 10 Incan people!
