Ann Garrison is an independent journalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area and a contributing editor for the Black Agenda Report. Much of her reporting focuses upon internal conflicts and geopolitical events in Africa. In recent years she has focused her attention on the civil war in Ethiopia and its change of government. In 2014, she received the Women's International Network for Democracy and Peace's Victoire Umuhoza Prize for her reporting about the conflicts in the African Great Lakes region. Ann also contributes to the San Francisco Bay View, Black Star News, Counterpunch, Global Research and Africa-related publications. She also produces a radio broadcast aired over KPFA and WBAI
