We are officially on our CW era of release schedules. We do a couple episodes, take a few weeks off and come back even better than ever! That’s what we’ve done this week as we kind of just shoot the **** for lack of a better word on a few things that have happened the past couple weeks. From Jonathan Majors, to the Emmy’s/Golden Globes, to casting rumors, The Last of Us & and deeper exploration of the poisonous leak culture and speculate on how video game leaks are reshaping the landscape of gaming itself. We're serving up our take on how these leaks, for better or worse, are influencing our anticipation for titles like 'Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.' Join us as we challenge the status quo of media culture, and along the way, share a few personal highlights from our latest movie binges and gaming adventures.

We had a couple really great conversations. Timecodes are provided if you want to skip around to your topic of choice! Thank you to everyone who continues to support and don’t forget to subscribe to download new episodes as they become available and don’t be afraid to share a rating!

We got absolutely bombarded with trailers this week. From “House of the Dragon,” to “The Boys,” to…Fallout? We talk about a few news bits from the week before discussing the trailers for upcoming shows and films and gauge our excitement for each.

The issue of leak culture is currently creating a significant shift in the entertainment industry. As we highlighted in the episode, it's changing the way we consume movies and television shows. Leaked trailers, spoilers, and set photos have become a new norm, eroding the element of surprise that has always been integral to the movie-going experience. Ryan Reynolds has managed to navigate these leaks with humor and resilience, providing an interesting perspective on this phenomenon. We'll also dive into the anticipation surrounding new projects such as The Boys season 4, House of the Dragon, Fallout, and Grand Theft Auto VI. We also spent some time preparing for the second season of The Last of Us, with a focus on showrunner Craig Mazin's prowess in portraying humanity and tension, we explore what a second season might look like and pivotal character developments.

In the great words of LeBron James: “It’s about damn time.” The strikes are over and we dodged a bullet when the recent writers and actors' strike concluded with a win for human creativity. We dissect this victory and the ripple effects it's had on the industry.

No conversation about the film industry is complete without discussing the films themselves. We're taking you on a rollercoaster ride through our thoughts and feelings about the hottest releases that we missed out on - from the deeply philosophical Oppenheimer to the delightfully quirky Barbie, and onto the highly-anticipated movies waiting in the wings like The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

Lastly, we have to talk about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We're pulling back the curtain on our concerns, speculations, and hopes for the future of the franchise. We're chatting about the impact of leak culture, the controversy stirred by a recent Variety article, and the potential plotlines we’re excited about. Plus, we're exploring the role of showrunners (GASP) and the effect they could have on Marvel's future projects. And if that isn't enough, we're also brainstorming casting ideas for a potential Fantastic Four film and sharing our thoughts on upcoming projects like Deadpool 3 and the (potential?) Kang Dynasty. So, buckle up and join us for a weekly deep-dive into the world of fandom!

Get ready to challenge your preconceptions as we discuss "The Marvels."  We weigh in on the latest MCU film amidst a litany of recent MCU hiccups and the vaunted Variety article that put the internet in a state of panic. But in the face of it all, the silver lining? Impressive performances by Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and of course, Iman Vellani and fun directing by Nia DaCosta culminate in a fun entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite what people WANTED to feel about it going in.

Brace yourself for a deep-dive into character motivations, plot development, and fight sequences. We discuss the Khan family's contribution to the narrative, Carol Danvers' role as the Annihilator, and how her touching and tense reunion with Monica Rambeau left a little on the table...also, what the heck is going on with Nick Fury?

We don't just review, we speculate. We've got theories galore on the future of the Marvel Universe. Ms. Marvel's Season 2, a potential Young Avengers movie, or Avengers 5 possibly being a mashup of Time Runs Out and Avengers vs X-Men - we're putting everything on the table. We even consider the odds of the formation of a new Avengers team in Captain America 4. So, whether you're a die-hard Marvel fan or just a casual viewer, sit back, relax and join us in exploring the endless possibilities of the Marvel Universe as we review "The Marvels"

The golden age superheroes have retired, and a new generation, who barely recognize the concept of consequences, now protect the world, Join us, as we embark on a journey through the pages of DC's 1996 epic: 'Kingdom Come', featuring the exquisite artwork by Alex Ross written by Mark Waid. Imagine a world where the iconic symbol of hope, Superman, turns rogue. That's exactly what we're taking a hard look at today as we explore the rising trope of the 'evil Superman' and its gripping narratives in comics. From its early 2000s origin to the popular comic series Injustice, we're deconstructing the shocking storyline where the Joker goes to the length of planting a nuclear weapon and tethering it to Lois Lane's heartbeat. This shift in Superman's character has been met with intrigue and has led to numerous copycats since its inception. Together, we uncover the compelling contrasts between Injustice 1 and Injustice 2 and their connection to the DC universe. This exploration also leads us to examine the repercussions of Superman's failure to protect his city and how this impacts the decisions of other heroes. We then compare different versions of Superman, such as Omni Man and Homelander, shedding light on how upbringing and environment play a part in their character development.  We ruminate on the broader impact and themes of comics, particularly how the 'evil Superman' trope has been used to illustrate the tragedy of a hero gone rogue.

As we wrap up, we share some personal comic book recommendations, highlighting our favorite writers and artists, including the likes of Tom King, Donny Cates, Mark Waid, and Alex Ross. Tune in for an enlightening journey into the world of the 'evil Superman' trope. Timecodes are provided if you want to skip around to your topic of choice!
