For our second edition of TRILOGISTS we figure we might want to discuss an ACTUAL trilogy and we might already have a contender for “Best Trilogy” that we’ve reviewed so far. It’s Valentines time so we’re already in the feeling but this romantic tale has no holiday obligation. The dude doesn’t even have money in the first movie. HE’S A BUM AND SHE’S MADE OF FRENCH PORCELAIN. Richard Linklater’s 1995 romance “Before Sunrise” might be one of the most convincing love stories captured on film and the follow ups of “Sunset” and “Midnight” over the course of 18 years have their own special charms as well but being middle aged is certainly different than fucking in a park one magical night in Vienna when you were 23. Will George Romero’s Living Dead trilogy get dethroned? Listen and find out as we discuss the ultimate date trilogy (the third one might be rather sobering if you’re early in a relationship but do it anyway, pussy)

We didn’t want to go quite as long as our opening episode of “Ain’t That America” but we just can’t get enough of Delaware! We gotta get our mouths on some of that SCRAPPLE! For part 2 of our film study of Delaware, we go to the more inland parts of the state, tackle some very low budget fare, encounter an all powerful writer/god and get a proper introduction to a cartoon cult phenomenon. No state was harder to mine than Delaware and it shows but we also found some surprising quality that we wouldn’t have watched otherwise. Another fun two and a half hours devoted to…DELAWARE!

It doesn’t matter if it’s filmed somewhere else, it matters what the story says, the filmmaker’s perceived setting is key
While many will be filmed and set in the state, being only filmed in the state does not count if the story doesn’t claim the state
It doesn’t matter if the town is fictional within the state, this is actually very common
Some states are harder to gather for so parameters may bend here and there

RIGHT HERE is where we begin “AIN’T THAT AMERICA” our state by state movie breakdown that will encompass years. At least 10 movies per state, with two episodes of 5 movie discussions. (see our parameters for the theme below) We’re going in order of statehood and the first U.S. state is amongst the hardest states to pull movies from but we got deep cuts, cult classics, and notorious film fare here in our first batch and we got a thicc episode to show for it. We’re talking about the 2nd smallest state, DELAWARE and we break down some Delaware geography flick by flick as well as presenting plenty of fun facts about the Blue Hen State on that Delmarva peninsula.
