I interview a frat bro, Jakes. He tells me the dark secrets and depraved traditions of his fraternity - a residence at a prominent South African university.  

While we South Africans don't refer to our residences as fraternities/sororities, and they aren't associated with American GLOs either, they're nevertheless bar for bar, rhyme for rhyme the same deal. I've spent my college career in one.  

Imagine dozens of late teens and twenty-something college students with zero real supervision, plenty of booze, and the horror stories to match. They're in the university papers weekly for their endless achievements and controversies - and sometimes mainstream news too. Stellenbosch, anyone?

African Psycho is a mystery/coming-of-age/chudcore novel about Greg, a wimpy kinda guy straight outta the Congo-Brazzaville slums and with intentions that make those slums look like a nice place to live.  Is this depiction of sub-Saharan African life accurate? And how does it compare to American Psycho?
