This is an episode from September 6, 2016 with Exit 17.  Recently the guitarist / vocalist from Exit 17, James "Lunchbox" Giunta, died.  We recorded a new intro and added it onto the past episode.  If you've heard this one before it's worth a second listen and if you've never heard this one it's definitely worth checking out.

Strappado are a local hardcore band recently formed by some Hudson Valley veterans.  They have recently started playing out and have music available on Bandcamp for download.  Carla and I may have had a little too much Jim Beam during the interview, if it gets loud and rambling our apologies.

In this episode we turn the mics on your humble co-host Danny and interview the band he plays in, Cell 63.  Holly from Outsider Magazine took over hosting duties with Carla.  We had the whole band show up and discussed the long history of Danny and Jeff and the various bass players they've played with over the years.  We also talked about how Mary entered the band and the writing process and living life in the local scene.

Poor Lily were kind enough to come by and hang out in the kitchen after their set at Darkside Records in Poughkeepsie to discuss their new album "Dirt on Everyone".  Poor Lily just released their new album which has been described as a rock opera but I prefer to describe it as one 30 minute song in multiple parts.  You can find all their music at www.poorlily.com

Don and Dumaine stopped by the kitchen today to talk about growing up in the Hudson Valley Punk and Metal scenes and their current project 4 Gun Ridge.  Technically, this is not a punk band but, we've had generous other than punk so this isn't that weird.  Besides, Carla and Danny grew up listening to the country music their fathers listened to so, this is not unfamiliar territory for them.  

About a year and a half ago Exit 17's singer, guitarist, and sole consistent member came on the podcast to talk about his band.  What ensued was a chaotic and exhausting interview.  Recently, James aka Lunchbox asked to come back on the podcast to set things right and talk about where his life was at at the time of the original interview and to talk about where he, and the band, are at now.  We are very happy to see James doing so well and the band has never sounded better.  Going James on this episode is Jimbo (original drummer and possible once again future drummer), Phil (current drummer), and Mike (current bass player).  Missing was Josh (also current bass player and sometimes drummer for the band).

Matt and Jake hung out in the kitchen on a sweltering August Sunday to talk about the scene that has sprung up around My Life In The Bush of Ghosts.  MLBG is actually Matt's apartment which he uses to host improvisational experimental noise artists from all over the country.  Jake is one of those artists who regularly performs at the Bush of Ghosts under the name Candle Hoax.

Rochdale are a recently formed punk / hardcore band in the Hudson Valley.  Tony, Paul, and Nick came to the house with a quart of bourbon (which 3 of us consumed in it's entirety).  We discussed music, hardcore, punk, writing, playing, influences, and a whole lot of other things.  Some of us got a little drunk and the conversation got a bit out of hand at time but, we had a lot of fun.

Michael X Rose is a painter, musician, graphic artist, film maker, and all around cool dude.  Michael is currently planning a pop up gallery event to show some of his current works.  He has an indiegogo campaign to raise the needed funds to pull off the show.  Look him up on indie gogo and toss him a few bucks.

Pete Crotty is an accomplished musician, songwriter, and all around terrific guy.  He has run the Gilligan stage at Punk Island for several years.  This year he took a step back and gave the reigns to his pal Antonio.  Pete talks at length about Punk Island and his life in music.  If you don't know, Punk Island is a free festival held annually in New York City.  The festival features multiple stages and close to 100 bands.  If you can find a way to get to NYC on June 19th you should definitely check it out.
